Played 18 yesterday and think I had the worse game I have ever played. This really sucked because I was playing with old friends who ragged on you when you hit a bad shot, needless to say it was not a good day, Bottom line I was pulling everything, including my irons and fairway woods, to the left, (I'm right handed). I lost like six balls. I have no idea what the hell I was doing wrong let alone trying to fix it. Tennis is looking more and more appealing.  I know I should post video on this site and ask for help, I will get around to it once I can look at my clubs again. I know it is golf, (called golf because all the other four letter words were taken), but I have no excuse.

Anyone else have a day where you can just not hit the ball?

Well..well...well...hello there. I can certainly understand your frustration my friend. Let it go. This may be hard to hear but...pulls? Really? Your day was ruined because of pulls? I would give my kickstand prior to a Daytona Beach keg party to suffer a day of pulls as my bad day. Get back out there and let it go. Until you break a rear window in a 7 series BMW and hit a bicyclist in one round from shanks..you get out there and enjoy every f****** shot. Now...have a good day.

Everyone has days when they can't hit the ball well in relation to their talent level.

The accomplished golfer just deals with it, and moves on.

As for golf buddies ragging on another's poor game. Well, that's what they are there for. Their time will come, and pay back can be a bitch. Especially in golf.

As for pulling shots, read up on the various causes of a pulled shot. Once you know the cause(s), you should be able to apply an on course fix.

Tennis? Forget it. My cousin in a tennis teaching pro. It's over rated. Besides that, the ball has "fuzz" on it. Who would want to play with "fuzzy balls"?

I must say I never hit a car, person, house, etc. I was hitting them dead left, no draw, just dead left right into the trees. Granted it was a tight course and I was using a new driver, one I had never hit before but still. I reverted to my 3 wood off the tee, which I normally hit great but not yesterday.

You're right, I just need to forget the round and go to the range and work it out.

You struggle to hit a ball that’s standing still.  What makes you think that you’d be any more successful hitting one that’s moving?!   :-D

Shake it off as Taylor Swift would say. I had a league mid-season tournament a few weeks back where I had the hooks. I hooked 9/18 tee shots that cost me at least 12 strokes. At the time, I was at a loss. Worst round of the year. I somehow settled down on the last couple of holes,  but I was really bummed.

But I just went back to work. I posted a video to my Evolvr instructor and talked about the issue. He figured out what I was doing from the video and I went back out there. I know what causes that issue now and how to correct it. I played my best round Thursday with those corrective feels that I worked on after the lesson.

We are going to have ups and downs.

After my horrible game last Friday I went to the range today, again started hitting driver and fairway woods dead left. So I stopped and started hitting chip shots, they too were going left but I noticed I wasn't using my right arm, (side), during my chips, so I started inputting my right arm into the chips and low and behold they straightened out. I then pulled out my driver and did the same thing, i.e., using my right arm during my swing. Everything straightened right out, even some a little to the right but in the fairway. I think my problem is resolved, (assuming I remember what to do), I'll know tomorrow given I'm playing a league match.

My question is how can that happen? Why one day you're hitting them OK the next day you suck!

Talk about a frustrating game. Glad I went to the range today, we'll see.

If Rory can pull a snowman with his skills, you shouldn't expect for every round to be good or even acceptable. Just write it off and play again.

Rory shoot like 78-64 in the british? Everyone have that day when you just can´t hit it straigth and others where you just can´t hit a bad shot. The other rounds are just a mix of both of them. It´s just golf.. keep on grinding!

Funny.

Last Saturday afternoon I was thinking about taking up needle point during a fairly crappy round.

Then I decided I'd probably just stab myself and maybe golf was safer after all.

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
