Questions about COVID-19 vaccines’ safety have led to...

 

Safer than driving down to the local 7-Eleven for a bag of chips.  Or waiting on a par 5 to go for the green in two.

A friend of mine got the J&J shot, and he ended up getting body shaking, fever, threw up later that night. 

I had the Moderna and felt like I had walked 36 the day before and had a hangover. I didn’t get the chills or fever. I’m thinking that may happen for the second shot.

I had nothing for either shot as well. I actually played golf (yeah, 18) right after the first dose.
I had a really good range session literally right after getting the second dose, less than an hour later. (That was Monday)

The day after the second does (yesterday) I also had a nice long range session. Not a thing. My arm isn't even sore. I can feel around and the spot on my arm. But I wouldn't call it sore.

Had my first Pfizer shot yesterday. Got a little achy and tired and went to bed early. Feel fine today except some soreness in my shoulder.

Reason #999 why looking at just death counts is a bad way to talk about why COVID is bad:

Even if you recover, you do not want to get COVID.

So hard to say that COVID is actually effecting your mental state based on things like hormones, or a change in brain chemistry versus just being under a lot of stress in general. The USA has a high number of people each year suffering from some sort of psychological trouble that I wonder how much above the baseline COVID is increase this.

Actually, I think any psychological issue that people are having may not be chemically attached to having C19. What about losing your job/business, not knowing where to get the money for the next meal, house payment, car payment, medical needs? How about being locked in for months and not socializing as we were created to do? Frankly, with all the confinements and losses C19 forces on people, it would be surprising to hear that people are not suffering psychological or physical/medical issues.

We are on a fairly grim path here in Michigan. The variant is hitting hard. Cases shooting up exponentially. Hospitalizations of those between 40 and 59 going up 1000 a week. I hope we are an outlier and not just the first of many. The only way out is vaccines.

I am eagerly awaiting my April 16th appointment for my 2nd shot.  Trying hard to not slip up in the home stretch.  Last weekend my wife canceled her RSVP for our nieces wedding shower when we learned they were expecting between 40-50 people.  I dropped off the gift and was confident she made the correct choice, the room was set up for shoulder-to-shoulder seating.  I understand the desire to return to normal, but the numbers speak for themselves....over 8,000 new cases in 1 day.  Chart/Story from @Braivo says it all.

I live in Macomb County right in the middle of it all. A friend, who is in his mid 70's, contracted covid, and never got vaccinated. He had opportunities, but just didn't. I am not convinced that even with vaccines will we get rid of C19 or it's variants. We can't shut down the world, and that is what it would take.

My first Moderna did nothing. When  I got my second at 9am..I was fine until 4am the next morning. I woke with fever and chills...basically flu symptoms. But I was completely fine by next morning.

The Moderna vaccine was given out at work last Friday. One of our employees still cannot move her arm now 5 days after. One of my friends was in bed all weekend. He said that he felt like he was hit by a dump truck, but is starting to feel better. The list goes on.

This doesn't get mentioned much, but we get most of our immunity within 10-12 days of the FIRST dose of the vaccine. This chart straight from the vaccine trials shows cases flatlining at day 12. Fascinating stuff. I'm not saying we should skip our second doses, but this might put our mind at ease a little knowing we have significant protection within two weeks of the first dose.
