I played Sugar Isle on Friday and they had a hole on the other end of the tunnel with a board sticking out of it. I had to lift my trolley over the thing. 

Nice score @Bonvivant. If they ever open Dayton back up, I bet you'll be taking in some $ in Duck's game if you play.

As for me, I'm not quite ready from prime time yet and have been treating everything as practice only. It's getting there. Birdied a par 5 on the front. Parred the island green and a few others. The rest we won't mention.

I have secret intel that the date on the CoD site (May 1st) is actually going to be the date of opening, so a happy Friday this week indeed. The hole was still there when we played on Saturday, so hopefully they will patch it soon. Luckily my Clicgears wheels are wide enough so I just had to do a hard front wheel lift.

As far as my game, Saturday was by far the best score I've had (besides a 76 on Dales which felt about the same in performance). The used AP2s that I picked up are a hefty improvement over my Nike blades when it comes to my performance, and they are still small enough for me to look at without thinking that I have a shovel in my hands. I went to the range in Franklin last Wednesday, and the yardages are night and day compared to the Nikes as well. Nike 7 iron was my 130 club, and AP2 7 iron was my 155-160 number. Quite the difference. The lofts are only 2 degrees stronger on the AP2s (if they are stock which I have no clue if they are or aren't) but they are going so much farther. I may have picked up a big of speed this winter because my new 52 degree wedge is going 100-105 whereas my 53 degree Nike was only going 80 on full swings last year.

I feel like I should be singing "A Whole New World", lol.

That's the only one I've played with a bunker in the middle.  And apparently the folks at Doonbeg have rethought Norman's design, Google Earth shows that the bunker is no longer there.

I played my first round of the post-lockdown season at a local muni named Green Oaks.  A unique feature of this course is that one of the employees has a hobby of raising honey bees, and obviously, collecting honey.  The hives are well away from the playing area, maybe 50 yards right of the 5th tee.

Sounds like those folks have some common sense. I find bunkers in the middle of greens gimmicky, as I do trees in the middle of a fairway! Stripe a drive right down the middle and you have tree trouble? What the heck?..

A bunker in the middle of a green is dumb.

A tree in the middle of the fairway I care less about. Don’t hit your drive in the middle, then. I’ve seen bunkers in the middle of fairways and people know to avoid them, but for some reason they don’t if it’s a tree?

Happy for you that you have that kind of control! I'm thinking of a particular course, with a tree in the fairway, that gives you maybe 15-20 yards on the right of the tree, and 10 yards on the left to fit a drive into! I don't recall Tour tolerances as that tight! It's just ridiculous!

What course and hole?

High Bridge Hills Golf Course has a tree in the fairway on the 9th hole. Don’t put the tree in play. Seems kind of obvious, honestly.

Pebble Beach has a tree in the fairway on the 18th.

How has nobody reference Tobacco Road yet? 
Too many holes with interesting features to just name one or two; my travel group has played it twice as the course we stop at on the way back to the airport after our trip the the Sand Hills. Most like it, a couple hate it - saying all it lacks is a clowns mouth to hit through. It is a very different course built by Mike Strantz, with several holes that are the definition of target golf. But I think it is a fun layout and it generates lots of conversation.

You should get up to Forest Dunes, the original course is actually 19 holes - the last hole being a short par 3 with a sandtrap in the middle, when I've played it it seems like if you are on the wrong side of the trap you just pick up, as the purpose of the hole is really to settle any bets that were pushed.

You wouldn't know it. #9 at Flying B GC near Salem, OH. Yes, and we only see Pebble being played by pros! Which we are far from being!

If you read my OP, you will see that it's about 15 yards on one side of the tree, and about 10 yards on the other! Are you really that accurate?! Hell, the pros might have trouble with those dimensions! But the distance says they would just blow their drives right over the top of the tree! We mortals don't have that option!

      Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.

      Of course there's not a simple or knowable answer here. But the whole Caitlin Clark phenomenon is a nice example IMO. Suddenly there was wall to wall media coverage and national attention and... the women's tournament got similar ratings to the men's and much higher ratings than the men in the final four. With every indication that there will be some portion of the uptick that remains going forward. And there's the whole element that Sue Bird brought up. That basketball needed a pretty enough white superstar guard. One who looks like the "cute little white girls" that describes most of the soccer USWNT that's been able to achieve much higher popularity than any version of women's basketball, which is dominated by black players and none of any race who could be described as little... I do think women's sports are in a good place to start taking off more though. It's really only in the coming 5-10 years that the majority of girls will start to come of age with post Title IX grandmothers (as in their grandmothers were allowed to be serious athletes). I don't follow men's or women's basketball much, but in golf for sure the women's tour has gotten much deeper over the past 20 years and only looks to keep going in that direction. I've heard the same about women's basketball. And the patriarchal attitudes that socialized girls out of sports and everyone out of women's sports fandom aren't gone but have def diminished.
