COVID-19 and Sharing a Cart?

I don't know if the divider helps or not. But I do know you are not always moving when sitting in a cart with another player.

As of 6/8/2020 the guidance on cart use allows two people. The Governor's office offered no details such as dividers, riders from same household, masks, etc...  Courses have been left to interpret the "rule".  Some say ride double or pay more.  Some say ride double or no cart.  Some have dividers.  While I prefer consistency, in some ways this lack of an accepted system allows each golfer to select the course that fits their level of risk.

A buddy and I have agreed to ride together at our Tournaments (in order to stretch the supply of carts).  He was just tested (negative) and while that is no guarantee, we are both careful.   I will likely wear a mask some/all of the time and walk when possible.

In DE you must wear a mask when paired in the cart. 
I don’t like it. I think we should continue the single rider until the health organizations demonstrate the ability to deal with breakout clusters of the disease.

As we played an away course a couple of weeks ago, the cart attendant said, we can have an individual cart or we can share a cart "since we all rode in the same car together." Actually, I thought that was pretty straight forward. We chose to share carts.

In NE Ohio it seems to be all over the map.Some place are singles in carts only, some places are doubles with a divider, and some other places are doubles with NO divider! 

Played at Firestone Farms a little while ago. This is a course near here that @iacas and some other members of TST played recently. They have installed plexiglas dividers on their carts. Didn't really matter since I was a member of a threesome and got the lone cart. Still, that divider, flapping around in the breeze, just tattooed the hell out of my right elbow!

I voted no.  We are old and my Wife has some immune system issues, so I try to not take chances.

I prefer to only share a buggy with my wife or the friend that I made the tee time with. About a year or so ago I was at Kapalua Plantation solo and the starter told me and another guy that we were the next two tees, would we like to play a 2 ball and we did. Had an enjoyable game, but the started said “if asked, you had two different tee times and chose to combine on the course. I thought that an odd comment then the next day I’m at the Bay course and they loaded my bag on someone else’s cart. I clarified that I was not with the guy, and they said yea two to a cart? When did this start? Played Kapalua several times as a solo and never was forced to ride with a stranger. 
in each case the partners were great. We had enjoyable games, but I do not get combining two people that do not know each other.

I don't much care for sharing a cart in normal conditions, so this is I guess another excuse.  I prefer walking anyway, but my desert golf is often in a cart -- and either alone or with a family member. 

However, I would consider sharing a cart with someone if they provided me with Cincinnati-style chili and pasta.

Some like a 3-way, 4-way or 5-way with Skyline Chili. I prefer a NO-WAY!

Played two days ago, it was one person to a cart, no exceptions. But on top of the greens fee you had to play $20 for the cart. I guess that is reasonable given the situation. BTW, no one wore masks while playing, I found that a little disconcerting. I figured at least on the green we should have worn a ask but nobody did.

Why?

There's virtually no chance of catching it outdoors.

Someone would have to talk straight at you for about fifteen minutes or something. And that someone would have to be infected and capable of passing it on.

Let's trust the science here.

Given my demographic (over 60 etc), I only ride alone, particularly since most golfers at my club ignore recommendations regarding COVID-19 transmission.  There’s a reason why the virus is surging in the South.

In Illinois here.  I've read that the rule is that you can share a cart if you live together, but what I've seen in reality is that no course makes an attempt to verify it so it's essentially the decision of the players if they want separate carts or not.

Between COVID, the fact that my home course doesn’t charge for a separate cart, and the fact that I can drive directly to my ball, having my own cart is a no-brained.
