I guess Lacava's theatrics may have backfired a bit by giving them a fresh psychological start. The Euros were on the ropes for a minute. Not that I think the final result would have ended up being different but could have been closer.

Anyway, congrats to the Euros. I guess the theory about the fans being the 13th man for the home team may have more merit than what I was willing to concede.

Look forward to the US getting it back in 2025. Bethpage will have great fans for certain.😜

Easy fix for the Ryder Cup. Two months prior, the captains pick names out of a hat. There's your team, go make it happen. 😃

Bleep sportsmanship. You need all the points. Force them to make a putt under pressure.

Ha! In a different situation, I agree. But it was pretty much over by then.

I love the format and structure of the Ryder Cup, but I hate the nationalism. It’s a sport we all love, but we get wrapped up in the us vs them. It kind of spoils it for me.

Watched the final day and realised the first couple of matches meant the USA was always behind the 8 ball.  They needed to win the first few games to get close and Hovland and Mcilroy ensured they were against it from the beginning.  I suppose being 5 down meant it was always difficult

It would take some away, but I had a thought of an RC on neutral ground, not in USA or Europe. The results speak for themselves regarding home turf advantage.

I wouldn't do that. And… it's almost entirely the fans, I think, because most of the Europeans are going to… fly back to the U.S. where they live after the Ryder Cup.

@iacas you are correct. Those 3 tied matches were the difference. Maybe not a W for the US team but I am willing to say had full points been had instead if halves it would have made for some different pairings and some tighter playing by the Euros. Hell even 1 full point might have made Sunday singles a real dog fight. The US does need to figure out why they haven’t won in Europe for over 30 years now. Bring on Bethpage in 2025. Still my favorite sporting event.

I think the big thing, at least to the hot start for Europe was they played some tournaments in Europe leading up to the Ryder Cup while the US team didn't play competitive golf. We see it in other sports, a hot team hits a bye week and they come out sluggish. You can see that USA got better as they got back into it.

But then how will these struggling networks make any money? 😉

But seriously though, despite the poor coverage and everyone complaining about it all over social media, people are still watching. It seems like the network is winning this one.

From the point of view of a European living in US, I must say that the coverage was better than usual. Typically it gets the "NBC Olympics" treatment, which it means only US athletes exists in the world. The one in France for instance, on Sunday they were constantly jumping from a good shot by a US player, to a good shot by another US player, you would wonder how is it possible they lost...

I am so thankful to the bookmakers who always underestimate Europe, home advantage, etc.  😄

Won at 2.15 (US win odds were 1.6 before Friday)

Woof. It was horrible. What are you used to watching?

So, I guess it was getting paid for the Netflix Documentary that Cantlay was requesting, not about getting paid to play golf.  I feel a camera on the locker room would be a bad idea.  They are on full display while on the course and need to have time in private and the locker room is one of the few places they can get that.  I do agree that if Netflix was going to make a film then the players should get a slice of that pie.

Xander Schauffele risked being thrown off the USA Ryder Cup team for refusing to sign a participation contract which would have allowed fly-on-the-wall Netflix docu-series Full Swing access to the Team USA locker room.
