As someone who likes to putt with the white part of the ball facing me… I'm not super happy about all of this:

Not a fan at all. As I’ve said before, I can’t stand to look down at my ball for an approach shot and the alignment is all crooked with my direction.

I don’t like a lot of marks on the ball and do not use a line to putt. I just want white.

You guys are a bunch of old fogeys. 

Two things.

  1. There's only so many ways they can "actually" improve the ball. And I'm pretty sure they're about 99% of the way there. Even Bob Parsons said "You'll never make a ball better than the PROV1." Putting colors and patterns on the ball gives the engineers something to do. 
  2. Playing a unique golf ball is fun. And they are easier to see and identify. 

I haven't played a plain white golf ball in years. Since at least before I joined this forum. I'm planning on running for office on the platform of:

"Just say no to white golf balls.... and white belts for guys over 34 (that's an age and a waistline size btw.)" 🤪

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs. 

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

I am a traditionalist and play pure white balls but do not like a nice solid line to line up my putts but it is a personal choice.

I'm not a fan of that new style.   I do stencil my ball but prefer no alignment aid.

Opps, horrible typo.  It should read "....but do like a nice solid line....."  That extra word in the initial post changes it....just a little.

I like less busy designs on golf balls as well.  Even the new Snell design is a little too busy for my taste.  I don’t use any ball alignment to putt either (except occasionally during practice to watch the ball roll), I just pay attention to what my club is doing when I putt.

Hopefully Titleist will keep their classic look going

I don’t mind the traditional straight line or arrow on the ball, but most of this stuff, I believe, is just marketing and trying to be different than the previous year’s model. I don’t see where it’s very beneficial to anyone.

      Day 42, June 15.  Played 18 today.  Shot 86, no birdies.  Played the par-3s in +2 and par-5s in +1 (there are only three).  Played the 11 par-4s in a total of +12, three triples and only two pars.  One of those triples was a 4-putt (in my defense, it started at the collar, it's a very long par-4 that required driver 4-wood, and the first putt was from 66').   I haven't calculated strokes gained yet for the round and I'm very very curious.

      Driver might be out of the bag indefinitely. All I got for success on camera and ball flight is like 50% swing speed. Anything more and it’s all over the place and strike is all over the clubface.  I got no athleticism/flow right now with what I want to do. It’s too dangerous for me because the swing will just get too long and unstable at P4. It’s very robotic feeling right now.

      He's not and GEARS doesn't really measure toward your midline. It's measured at the joint. That's not why his use of "midline" is bad (part of the reason is that your "midline" is twisted, the top of your sternum can be pointed at a different place than the belt buckle, and your shoulders protract and retract, too. I think he's just trying to use midline to say which way the arm is moving. But they have terms for that — adduction and abduction — so whatever.
