I think we fall into the trap of thinking because the leaders aren’t major winners, that the leaders are only leading because the great players are playing poorly. But I don’t see that. Harmon is playing like he was playing different course today. Fleetwood really pushed to save par on a bunch of holes. Kudos to both of them. I hope both of them hold their own the next couple of days.

I wished they would have paired little Harman along with that 6'8" South African amateur that played so well the first day. Both were Georgia bulldogs. The contrast would have been interesting.

Leaderboard is gearing up for Sunday. Even if Harman has a similar lead tomorrow, it’s far from over.

The scoring average is down today and so far he’s moving in the wrong direction.

Are you guys watching some golf championship in Liverpool? All I’m getting is a Beatles tribute interrupted by a few golf shots.

The R&A should be ashamed for letting the course get so easy! They should turn up the wind machines, turn off the rain and grow the rough around the greens to 6” (15cm) overnight to make this a tougher tournament.😜

And what’s up with those amateur pot bunkers? Minimum walls of 8ft otherwise it’s not even a hazard!

I could watch 50 hours of golf this week with zero ads. Maybe one or two the first and last minute of the broadcast. No Beatles here. 😀

I have often said that the golden age of major championship golf (aka, the years when I was getting into golf, naturally), the Open Championship's strategy of giving some of the gardeners a few weeks off from maintaining the second cut was the best. ;-)

It is nice to see three people who I wanted to see win last year's British in the top 11 of the leaderboard this year.

Oooh, and it was nice to see a spectator wearing a New Orleans Saints hat.  And I don't even like the Saints, I just love seeing NFL apparel overseas.

    • Context:  I am on vacation, so I don't have access to my indoor practice room, and I won't for about a month. Day 12 (August 22).  Today's weather was not one where even I was going to be outside.  For whatever reason, I didn't do the putting drill today.  There was a drill I remembered from this site (the article was something akin to "five things you can do to improve that don't require talent") that involved having an iron along the back from stance, moving to backswing and holding, then moving to forward swing and holding.  So I did that for five minutes today. I also spent 90 minutes at the gym;  my main motivation for getting stronger is golf related (and I really should get back to Fit For Golf  specific workouts;  I'm not sure when I lost that habit, a poor choice on my part that I did).  Funny story, I spent 20 minutes on the Stairmaster today at the gym (the rest was weights and rests), a device I started with shortly after I took up golf because I read something about it in a Butch Harmon book.  I should be following FFG Mike's fitness advice though, not some memory of someone else.
    • Day 8 8-22 Worked on backswing length and getting some speed in backswing. Recorded swings. Was happy with practice session tonight.
    • Day 325 - 2025-08-22 Practiced for almost an hour after cleaning my cabinets to account for the new GEARS cameras and helping @OBlum for a bit. Exaggerating the same old things.
    • Yea, faster greens = shorter putting stroke. You can be more accurate.  Really, I think people who struggle with distance control struggle just as much on slow greens as fast greens. I've seen people blast putts 10-FT past the hole on 8 or 9 STIMP as much as 11-12 STIMP.  I prefer faster greens. Usually means the putting surface is better and again, shorter putting stroke.
