Just like the 2022202120202023, and 2024 topics, we're doing it again in 2025!

Once again, I'd like to birdie every hole at Whispering Woods in 2025 (and maybe every numbered hole on other courses). I'd like you to join me on this quest. I'll have a better chance this year if I don't completely screw up my left thumb in August, too… πŸ˜‰ This year's spreadsheet is below:

Please click through, add your name, home course, and location, and when you make a score on the holes as you play them, update your line in the spreadsheet with your ringer score, basically. The idea is to score a birdie or better on each hole on the course this year.

If you're above a certain handicap and would like to make it a par challenge, go for it! Just add that note to the Notes column.

Please leave the formatting as is. And note that you only write down one score - if you birdie a hole three times, you aren't writing down -3. It's just your best individual score for each hole.

We can all cheer each other on and see where this takes us!

If you truly play a TON of different courses, then follow these two guidelines:

  • If you just play a lot of golf, but still get 20 or 25 (or more) rounds in on one course, consider making that your home course and just doing the birdie challenge there.
  • If you truly play only 20-40 rounds per year, and never more than a handful at the same course, consider trying to birdie holes numbered 1 to 18 across all of your courses. Or even doing it twice. Yeah, some hole #17s will be easier birdies than others, but that's why you might do it twice.

Happy New Year Trappers!

This will be my fourth challenge and I missed it by one hole in 2022 and 2023 (only to birdie the one I needed within a month of the new challenge). Last year I completed the challenge by August and got the monkey off my back! I ended up with 18 birdies with 3 holes being eagles for a -21 total. For 2024, I actually knocked off the harder holes earlier in the year so that I wasn't thinking about the challenge as much as I was thinking about playing golf.

Against better thinking I checked in to the forum to join again for this year. So far this year I have played 5 rounds and have 7 birdies. Let's see what we can get done for 2025!

So far only -5 but...

I've Birdied 2 of the 4 holes I wasn't able to last year.  Hopefully will Birdie all 18 this year, maybe an Eagle or 2!

Things are moving quickly this season and I just knocked off the hardest hole on the back nine. I have the number 1 handicap hole still on the list and two others. Since early retirement, this playing 3 times a week is working out pretty well!

First round of the year last Friday and knocked off 2 holes already. Annoyingly, one of the holes was #13, which I did not get last year. Still, good to get off the ground with 2 birdies.

Played a quick nine as my first time out in 2025 and birdied the one hole that it took me all season to birdie last year. I think it was the last or penultimate one out of the 18 at my home course.

That seems to be how this goes....struggle one year to knock off that one hole only to slay it out of the gate the following year.

I did knock off the #1 hole yesterday which is a 436 yard dogleg left to an elevated green. Playing downwind on a baked out fairway, I only had 160 left to a front pin. Made a 20 footer that broke 2 feet to leave me with only 2 holes left.

This weekend I knocked off #10...a short 375 yard par 4....hit a hooky 4 wood that found the sand left leaving 165 into the wind. I hit 6 iron to 2 feet and tapped it in. All I have left is a par 3 that has been tricky this year.

The 16th hole fell today marking my completion of the 18 hole challenge in 36 rounds of golf at my home course. A par 3 with a red pin, water short left, played 157 into the wind. I went up to the tee thinking "Just hit a solid shot" because its been such a tough hole always playing into the wind. Today it was a solid 7 iron that never left the stick and landed within 18 inches for an easy tap in. I was thinking about the challenge on the tee and I am so glad I finally hit a golf shot as a response.

Me too. Just one last week on St Kitts. Did not even come close to a birdie but saw pelicans. Does that count?

I'm in a bit of a transition, at my home course I play the Blue tees most of the time, the regular men's tees.  But many weekdays I play with a group of retired players, and play the "senior" tees, close to 600 yards shorter.  I've set up two lines in the "home" compilation page, one for the regular tees, and one for the senior tees.

Normally I'd say that's silly: birdieing a hole is birdieing a hole so long as you're not playing WAY short (like me playing the forward 4800 yard tees). But… you play enough golf, I think, that it may be fair. πŸ˜„ Like two home courses.

Season underway. Home course Round 2 broke the ice with two birdies on hole 6 ((9 iron) and 9 (8 iron), both par 3s. I will try to be diligent in recording this year. Hoping to add at least one on the away course sheet at the end of March with my first ever overseas (Japan) round.

Yeah, what brought the idea to mind was a birdie on hole 4, an uphill par 3.  Normally its about 175 yards, but from the forward tees it was only about 115.  I'd have felt guilty posting that one.

Knocked off the first birdie of the year on #15 at Quail Brook GC, what I’m calling my home course again. Good drive followed by a perfect 3W. Didn’t think I could reach the green in two and almost did. Chipped to 5’ and made the putt. Didn’t birdie that one all year in 2024 and figures it’s the first one I get in 2025.
