Nope. 50/39 is the best that I can recall from recent memory.

Though I’m an 18.3 so I feel like that counts for bonus points 😃

This is a great lesson on not to give up on a round when the front nine is bad and the back is great.

About like @bkuehn1952 with a 43 / 37….my usual fare is to go lower on the front and lose it on the back….great recovery in going from 51 front to 38 back.

It's not quite as extreme, but I did once go 31-38. Par was 36-35. Front nine I hit all nine greens and my longest birdie putt was 12 feet. Holed 5 and missed 4. I couldn't miss. Hit a good drive on 10 and then missed the green left and made 5 and suddenly I could miss again. The back was worse than it looks because I missed the green on the last and hit a chip that got away from me and was going well past the hole, but it hit the flag and went in, so could easily have been 40 on the back. That was in 1998. More recently, last year playing in a two round tournament at Bethpage Black. Shot 72-90. That was an interesting turn around.

I’ve done something in the realm of mid 40’s and 36/37 before. It’s been a while, so I can’t remember the exact combo.

I'm not sure I can beat that. BUUUUTTTTTT...........................

During the tournament I recently played I hit 32 putts the first day, 31 putts the second day, and then hit an astounding 47 putts on the third day. Same course all three days. Same putter. Same golfer... Only God knows why the ball wouldn't go in the hole that day.

47 putts is a lot! I wasn't even sure that was possible.

My stokes gained for that round vs a 5 Hcp is pretty embarrassing.

I played in a local tournament last month and shot 43-37, 80 overall.

The difference really was 19 putts on the front-9, but only 11 on the back-9 (I had 7 1 putts on the back).

It was gusty, and I played exceptionally well (for me) that day.  I have an 8.5 index, and beat the field gross and net (the lowest indexed player with 0.4 index shot 83 that day).

Context:  I used to play golf very regularly (and when I'm playing regularly, I'm on TST regularly).  In summer 2022, I got my handicap down to a personal-best 11.9.  Unfortunately, in the three years since then, I've had far less time to play, and didn't really make the time to practice.  I've played a bit more the past few months, and I anticipate having a lot more time to practice starting in about two months, at which point I'm hoping to go back to my old practice habits (practicing daily, Evolvr lessons, spending more time on TST (come to think of it, I can do that important last part now)).

But it was thinking about how different my nines have been a few times in the past month or so that made me wonder if there was a thread here about it, and sure enough, there was.  In the past month or so, I've had a 38-46 and a 45-39.

I tried really hard on Sunday but the best I managed was a 49-41 with a double bogey on 18. Was feeling a 50-39 but I made a really good 50' lag putt on 9 and shit the bed on 18.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
