Rory Sabbatini and Sean O’Hair, who were paired together in the first two rounds, along with Pat Perez, had a heated exchange (limited to words — sorry, no punches thrown) during the second round of last week’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Both players will likely receive disciplinary action — determined at the discretion of the PGA Tour — but the severity of their punishments is expected to differ, according to sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Story is basically that Sabbatini went off on a spotter and O'Hair defended the kid but got a little too riled up himself in doing so.

Seems par for the course for Sabbatini. And tough to blame O'Hair given his upbringing. Not a great week for O'Hair though. Caddie fired. Coach fired. WDs, and now this.

The spotter incident was back in February. This is something new (or a carry-over).

Jeez, bad week for O'Hair. He should really just go all the way with SnT with his next teacher-- I think clearly Foley held back a ton of info from him. How else can you explain this video ?

I shall say "indeed" and leave it at that.

But he's back with his old coach, I've heard. Good luck. He's talented so he can win and play well doing virtually anything (within reason). I'll root for him, as I have.

What did I miss??  What did Foley hold back?  Does Ohair claim to NOT be SNT?

I'm confused, the altercation was back in Februrary. Surely they have gotten over that by now? I'm thinking that something else must of happened to flare it up again?

Slow play apparently the issue (again). Sure the earlier bad blood didn't help, but it seems pretty weak sauce. Not like someone got punched out.

Quote:

“I heard it all,” Sabbatini said in the locker room after his pro-am. “Supposedly I had a fight with O’Hair and I told the tour to ‘F-off.’ Heresy is heresy.”

The “heresy” which Sabatini spoke of was a verbal disagreement that allegedly took place between O’Hair and Sabbatini on the 14th hole at TPC Louisiana. According to sources, Sabbatini spent much of last Thursday and Friday complaining about the speed of play.  Eventually he asked O’Hair directly if he thought the speed of play was a problem and reportedly O’Hair said the problem was Sabbatini. Sources said O’Hair told Sabbatini that playing in a group with Sabbatini, a known speed-of-play advocate, was equal to a two-shot penalty for his playing competitors.

Sources said no other words were spoken during the round. Two sources said the two confronted each other again in the locker room.

PS: Alex, I'm guessing Sabo was actually making a point about "hearsay" rather than "heresy".

Could that be any more off topic?

@ Stretch - RE heresy v. hearsay. In some English dialects the words sound almost identical. Seems to be the case the closer you get to the South Pole.

Nah, I think its fair game. It's somewhat relevant since O'Hair himself is having quite the meltdown week. Besides, no one really has that much information about the spat in question anyway. But, yea, sorry, I didn't feel like starting a "Sean O'Hair Fires His Inner-Circle" thread. Maybe I should have.

sabbatini may have gone about this in the wrong way, but i am on his side as far as the slow play debate goes.

I will say this, at O'Hair's next tournament there will 100 or more players quietly coming up and patting him on the back......that is just fukking priceless.

Though I like to model my swing after Stricker (I've heard his swing compared top S&T;), part of my thought process in swinging is just what O'Hair talks about.

O'Hair is definitely a slower player, and without the typically fall-back excuse of being used to the slow play of college golf.  And Rory is known for not particularly liking slow players.  However, I don't think this particular disagreement of theirs stems from pace of play issues.
