Played in the mid-week club comp today and one of our better players, off scratch, had a hole in one on the par 4 fourth, which was playing 312 meters (341 yards) to the stick. (The greens staff went back and lasered it afterward.) It's OB right and the wind was behind and from the left quarter, so he hit a smoking cut off the big gum tree protecting the left side. Thought the drive might possibly have made the green but couldn't see it. Checked the left greenside bunker, then went back to see if it tied up in the rough around the tree. Was busy angrily poking the shrubs around the green when the rest of the group went to putt out and the flag tender found his ball in the hole.

Debate now is about how to properly commemorate this mighty blow. The club has very nice wooden boards on the tees of all the par threes with engraved brass plates recording aces. Seems a waste to put one up here, since it'll only ever have one name. But maybe that's the point? Visitors will stand on that box in perpetuity, going: "No ****ing way!"

That is a great shot...  I kind of like them doing the same thing as they do on the par 3s... sure it'll only be one name, but I agree, that's kind of the point.

I vote for the same box on the par four! Definitely! One name, perhaps forever. Awesome!

Wow!!  I vote for the plaque on the tee!  Not a waste at all IMO.  I would want my name being the only one.

That's a pretty rare sight there.  I played a par-3 course today and tried to make a hole-in-one on every hole.  Still waiting....

You need to play a bit more. I am sure in the next 1000 rounds or so you will get one.

That's spectacular. :-) Another vote for putting his name on the tee. (Although it'll make every double bogey on that hole afterward look even more shameful. :-D )

I just came from my old club (where I now just go to hit practice balls) and they have a hole in one honour board in the clubhouse that includes albatross. There are 2 names recorded as having an albatross on the par 4 6th.

One guy from our club got his name on another clubs board for 2 albatrosses on THE SAME HOLE. How the hell do you get 2 on the same hole?

First, you do it once. Then, you do it again.

C'mon, seems pretty obvious to me.

I'd be happy just getting an ace on a par 3. Better order that 48" Cobra driver if I want to reach those par 4s.

    • Went back and reviewed my rounds this year at my home course to fill out the spreadsheet. Realized I have made at least par on each hole but two that I have bogied. At my skill level, it gives me a new confidence that I can play each hole decently well and strong together a lower score. Great mental boost.
    • I'm at 330 I think. I have a spreadsheet with all of them in it. It helps having lived in two countries. 159 in the US and 136 in the UK. Then a handful in Europe and a few in other countries (Canada, Australia, Mexico).
    • First Birdie of the year at Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland Fl, 450ys Par 5, Pulled driver to left rough trying to cut corner, Left myself 194 in uphill, hit my 5 iron to 8 feet. Unfortunately greens were in terrible shape and it was a sliding right to left putt, hit a nasty piece of dead spot and hopped left for a missed eagle putt with a 6 inch tap in for bird.
    • Was Talking with a buddy last night and got to thinking how many different courses we have played and was a little underwhelmed at my count. I assumed I was around 100 give or take. After about an hour of racking my brain I realized Im right at or just above 60. There could be a few that I cant recall or don't have record of but overall felt like that was a decent number. 55 in Florida, 2 in Arizona, 1 in New Hampshire, 1 in Michigan, and 1 in Indiana.  Now a new goal of getting to that 100 courses. Plan is to get to 75 by end of year and have dates of courses already set to get me to 70 so 75 shouldn't be out of question.  Below is the list of courses:  State Courses AZ Phoenician AZ The Legacy FL Abbey Course at St. Leo FL Babe Zaharias FL Bardmoor FL Bent Tree FL Big Cypress Exec FL Big Cypress South FL Bloomingdale FL Bobcat Trail FL Champions Gate FL Chi Chi Rodriguez FL Clearwater Country Club FL Club Renaissance  FL Copperhead FL Countryway FL Cove Cay FL Cypress Creek FL Diamond Hill FL Falcons Fire FL Fox Hollow FL Freedom Fairways FL Greenfield Plantation FL Hawks Landing FL Heritage Harbour Bradenton FL Heritage Harbour Land o Lakes FL Heritage Isles FL Highlands Reserve FL lake Jovita North FL Lake Jovita South FL Lexington Oaks FL Links at Greenfield Plantation FL Links of Lake Bernadette FL Links of Sandpiper Lakeland FL Northdale FL Plantation Palms FL River Hills FL Rocky Point FL Rogers FL Saddlebrook- Plamer FL Saddlebrook- Saddlebrook FL Sandpiper Lakeland FL Sandpiper Suncity FL Scepter Golf Club Falcon FL Shalamar FL Seminole Lake Country Club FL Silver Dollar FL Silverado FL Streamsong Red FL Sugarmill Woods Cypress FL Sugarmill Woods Pine FL Summerfield FL Temple Terrace FL Waterlefe FL Wentworth FL Westchase FL World Woods Pine Barrons IN Rock Hollow MI Ravines NH Brookside
