I have to agree.  But I think it's more like >95% mental than anything else.

Unless he gets his head straightened out, I am beginning to doubt he'll even contend regularly anymore.

I hope he proves me wrong.

That's twice Ricky won at Rory's expense....

Could be an interesting trend?

Mccilroy absolutely blasts the ball he hit his 3 wood fourther then fowlers drive it was very impressive

Gotta be steroids. :-) Seriously, I'm about ready to jump on the Rory bandwagon. He's only had one bad week since last summer, and the power he showed this week was impressive, to say the least.

A few thoughts......

1.  Congrats to Ricky Fowler....very well deserved.....a bad week for the haters (especially those that don't really "recognize" his win in Asia -- it ain't all about the PGA tour folks)

2.  I think it is obviousl that Rory is -- and has been for some time -- the best player in the world.......but I am not quite certain he has the nerve that Tiger did in his early days

3.  Gutty, gutty performance by DA Points...tough to let one slip away on 18

Haha yeah they were probably his biggest fans this week.

Let's hope his charming girlfriend talks him into getting a proper haircut, now that he's gone bigtime.

What does solid mean in case of play-off win?

Uh, like Rory ?       Rory was looking sharp with his new tight haircut ... Fowler, no chance.

Awesome 2nd shot and putt by Fowler during the playoff.  I kept waiting for him to tail off but he stuck with the leaders and showed he has the mental strength to win at the end.  Great victory for Fowler and golf even if I don't like the way he dresses.

What I liked about the playoff is that the announcers were raving about McIlroy's length, 3 wood going past drivers, but the longest drive didn't yield the winning score.

Yeah, I'm a little biased, I'm not long and of course announcers play up length to get ratings.

Is it a porn stache or is it a Mario stache? It's a PornMario stache! Stop it. Don't visualize. Don't visualize.

And did anyone get the bit where Faldo was talking about McIlroy's hips open so and so degrees compared to other players ? I didn't get all of it, I had the volume turned way down. Any merit to the numbers he was quoting?

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
