28.6 -> 28.0

Finally the decline is beginning. 2 sub 100 rounds in my last 5.

Also encouragingly, my anti handicap is the lowest it's ever been as well (only been keeping a handicap for 5 months)

anti handicap is 33.9. Best is getting better and the worst is getting better too.

Hopefully the course you play will have a 134 slope and you still make it.

We're playing Chantilly, slope is about 127, and Stoneleigh is 132, no luck for me unless I stink it up for the next 2 weeks.  All I can do is play like I always do, and see what happens.  We have enough players, no need for me to sandbag, even if I could bring myself to do it.

Down to 13.9. Pretty much at the limit of my abilities, ballstriking-wise. Don't foresee much improvement in the coming weeks unless the swing gets better or I start chipping and putting as well as I did earlier in the year.

18.5, down from 19.4 at the start of the month. I think my game's in the right place to start seeing some big improvements in scoring, and I'm looking forward to the chance to keep lowering that index before the next revision.

In my UnderArmour Links stand bag...

Driver: '07 Burner 9.5° (stiff graphite shaft)
Woods: SasQuatch 17° 4-Wood (stiff graphite shaft)

2.5 down from  2.7

My last five revisions have been 2.2, 1.6, 2.1, 2.7, 2.5

I have been pretty steady. I have posted 59 rounds this year and just posted a tournament differential of 2.0

It will probably drop with the next revision as I will have two 4.0 differentials falling off and will be adding 3 tournament rds.

Another new all-time low for me this revision - 4.2.

I gave you a thumbs up for this part of your post. ^^^^  If it would let me, I'd give you a thumbs down for the rest. ;)

Seriously, though - well done.  It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that you were 20+

LOL ok. I'm just tempering my expectations. My last few rounds have felt like grinds. I'm getting better since the scores are lower, but at the same time I'm not expecting to break 80 soon.

Thanks. I'm getting there, albeit rather slowly. It's going to take a significant amount of work if I want to make single digit by next summer ;-)

11.7

This has been my worst season in decades. My handicap index has floated between 8 and 10.5 for about 25 years, but this season I hit a high of 13 a month ago. Everything was wrong from lack of length, sideways shots (in both directions) to three putting anything over 25 feet. I am getting older and I lost 30 lbs. last year, but that was intentional and I am much fitter and more flexible so I couldn't understand the length issue. What I think happened is that I had taken some lessons in May and we just didn't hit it off and I got stuck with some bad swing thoughts. I didn't think I could find my way out of it, but I called a guy who was my Pro a few years back who had quit the business and we went to a range and figured some things out. We went out to a nice dinner on me as payment and I also owe him a round of golf at my club (where I will pick his brain further). A month ago I couldn't break 90 and now 6 of my last 7 are in the mid 80's. I'm looking to get it to at least under 10 in two more revisions.

I have been entering all my scores this year to see what my HI is and I was looking for some help in how to add scores from my friends club.

It's a 9 hole course where they all play the first 9 from the whites and then the second 9 from the blues.  The online calculator I use has you enter a score for 18 but the slope and rating change from white to blue so what should I do?

White is 129 - 71.1    Blue is 133 - 69.9  Do I just skip the round?  Play it twice and add the 2 whites and the 2 blues together respectfully and then enter the two scores?  (That's the easy way!)

Curious if this happens to others and what they do.

I know the official USGA handicap can use 9-hole scores, so you could simply enter each 9.  If your online calculator can't accept 9-hole scores, and you play 9 blue and 9 white, you could enter the total 18-hole score, with slope being the average or the two (131), and course rating being the sum of the two nines.  That's the way the USGA treats 9-hole scores, it combines them in the order that they're posted.   Based on the way you've presented the numbers, I'd use a course rating of 70.5.

To expand somewhat on what @DaveP043 said, I think the easy answer would be to just manually enter the slope and rating (if your calculator lets you do that - GHIN does).

The slope and rating of the course you play seems simple to me:  131 - 70.5.

Thanks for the info Dave and Golfingdad.  The calculator I was using will only let you put in scores for 18 holes.  Maybe I should try a different one.

I was thinking you would just take the average from the two but wanted confirmation from someone with more experience than me.  My friend wasn't sure as he just turns in his card and they do it for him.  The pro wasn't available last time we played  so I couldn't ask him.

I'm going to jump the gun a bit, because I'm going to be out of town most of the week.  On 9/1, my index will drop from 3.8 to 2.6, the best of my life.   Golf is fun every time I get to play, but its even more fun to play well.
