Kind of just maintaining at this point. Haven't been able to put together a few good rounds in a row. I feel like my driver is starting to come around. Hoping next months revision drops below 12.

I'm happy with my trend but getting doubtful that the trend will continue:

That is one hell of a trend, down nearly ten shots in a year! Nice improvement.

3.3- 2.9

My lack of recent play will rear it's ugly head soon enough!  I'm not sure if I can continue to trend down.  Only time will tell!!  I surely need to get my head out of my ARSE and play better!!!

I am still not happy AT ALL with how I am striking the ball.   I look like a hack while playing, and score via smoke-n-mirrors.   My montra so far in 2015 is hack the ball in play from the tee......get it near the green.  Chip and putt for par.

8.5 to 7.9, down from 11.0 at the start of the year. Keep expecting it all to fall apart but am quietly optimistic that it might still get better.

New best round ever yesterday :-D Shot a 78 (+7) on my homecourse from the tips. Including a +2 on the back nine, which is by far the most difficult nine I play regularly (3490 yards, a lot of water). Handicap to an all time low of 8.4

Dropped two strokes from 21.1 to 19.0. Five out of my last six rounds have been in the 80's, including an 88 today which I'm hoping, will drop it a bit more. :-D

7.5  I know this has to stop eventually, hard to imagine getting above 8 but I was a 8.7 3 years ago so I guess anything is possible.

lol, it can happen quickly. I went from 6 to 9.6 in about 8 months last year. Quit for 8 months and very slowly workin it back down. 18 rounds back now and I've only dropped 1.3 points. Seems to increase a lot faster! Hope you have better luck than I did.

Quick question. I use my scorecard.com which provides an official USGA handicap. It shows me at a 19.0 but also shows my trend handicap at 18.0. Anybody know what that means?

In the US, your handicap index is updated on the 1st and the 15th of each month.  The Trend handicap is the index you'd have if the reporting period ends today, or if you don't post any more scores before the new index comes out..  For instance, my official index is 5.1 as of 7/15.  In the two weekends since then, I've played pretty well, and my trend is now 4.4.  If I don't play before Saturday, my index will be 4.4 on August 1.

    • Better stuff today.  Backswing mapping, watching the club go back to where I want it, pause and feel the position, take it back to address, and repeat while looking at the ball.  Some feels I am playing around with.  1) Feeling like my right hand is pushing out away from me to keep the right arm extended. Really actively resist the momentum of the swing to collapse the right arm. I can't do this early because I will just push my hands outward. It's like A2.5 to A3.5.  2) Feeling a bit less flex in the left wrist at A3. I can't do this much or I will just roll the club inside. I caught myself doing this a few times and stopped.  3) Like above, feeling the overall body position at A3. I ideally want my swing to be A3.5 in length. Downswing, I got to really feel the pause again.  I also was doing some downswings while looking at the club at A3-A4 just to make sure it was going down and not out. I kind-of can hit the ball flush while not even looking at the ball. 🤣 Yea, trying to disconnect the hands down and tilting back to lower the club is difficult.  Also, even if I get my hands down better, I end up hitting straight hooks or flipping straight cuts. The club doesn't come in flush a lot. I definitely feel a flip at the ball the ball most of the time.
    • Day 4 March 15th, 2025 hit about 20 golf balls, a lot of non-hitting practice. Backswing length to A3 feels, downswing stuff.
    • Take this with a grain of salt but, when I see high speed/high leverage freewheeling swings like yours (from your swing video), it makes me think that considering the combo of outward and downward pressure required, you might not be applying sufficient downward pressure through impact. Tendency is more out than down. A good analogy is keeping an inflated ball pushed down underwater in a pool. I think it is the hardest force/pressure component to master.  It's a guess. I also think back pain is a symptom, theoretically speaking.
    • Heron Ridge in Virginia Beach yesterday, hole #7 for those in the area.  Would this box be considered an immovable obstruction with free relief?  (It was in my back swing as the hole was to the left of my ball in the picture.)  You can see that it sits just off the cart path.  How about all the mud and tire tracks?  When I addressed the ball my feet were sinking in wet mud so I took relief for standing water.  Right or wrong?  Thoughts?
