Some questions we might get answered today;

  1. Can Sergio avoid choking on the final day of the tournament and win?
  2. Can Tiger show he can play from behind and at least close the gap on the rest of the field?  If not will he blame his sore back or the course conditions for his inability to do so?
  3. Will Phil figure out how to hit a fairway from the tee box before he kills someone?
  4. Who wins it? Stenson or Dufner, c'mon do you really think Sergio isn't going to choke?

I was going to add Stricker to the list, but Duf and Stenson seem to charging hard for the win.  I love Phil, but he kills himself off the tee, it's amazing he can recover as well as he does to even remain in contention.

Spieth should be a Captain's pick for the Presdent's Cup.

Damn Tiger, better get it together in Chicago.

He needs two high finishes and some luck if he wants to win the FedExCup. Of course, a win in Atlanta will seal it.

Well you were right about Garcia and Stricker...

lol. I really wasn't high on stenson, I noticed in these big money events his putting stroke noticeably becomes erratic.  He led the field in GIR last time I checked, that sealed it lol.

Tiger can't drop putts consistently.

Sergio does his thing ... disappointing but not unexpected.

Stenson is one of only 5 guys to have won a WGC event, a playoff event and the Players.  None of those are small money events.

No shock Sergio choked, I could see it in his eyes as he walked up to the 1st tee.  I guess he's choked so often he's gun shy at this point, just shows no confidence when he has a lead on going into the final day.  At the 2nd tee (I think), he looked really nervous and uncomfortable, even backed off once because of the gallery and never looked comfortable over the ball.

I figured Stenson would win, he was peaking at the right time and that sand shot on 17 was amazing.

Tiger and Phil still need to work some things out with their game.  Phil has serious confidence issues with his tee shots and Tiger can't sink putts.  Phil needs Callaway to create some new magical driver for him that he believes will stay in the fairway, maybe he'll give the OptiForce a try.

I'm in no way qualified to fix Tigers putting issues but when I watch him putt, it seems like his timing is off.  I get the feeling he either seems rushed or takes too much time before he actually attempts the putt, he just doesn't seem to have a rhythm he's comfortable with.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
