Sneds tearing it up this morning. Course not playing too tough so far. Guys throwing darts at the pins. Seems like the wider fairways are making things a bit easier. Lot of guys playing shots from the fairway.

Wow thats a crazy schedule. I hate ESPN, sometimes they take over everything. Mike Turico and Boomer are the worst golf announcers ever in the history of golf.

Boomer did the intro, and I was just praying that he wouldn't be on long. Van Pelt has taken over with Azinger, so all is well.

He'll be back. He usually does the 5pm telecast with Maltbie. Enjoy it because it's his last year doing it....Fox takes over next year.

There is a god!!! Not that I like Fox any better, but get Berman the hell out of here.

I hadn't heard this. Any leaks about who they'll use to commentate?

C'mon, Rory. Gotta stop the bleeding. Bogey on 6 and 7, and not looking good on #8. (edit: 8/not 9... saved par on 8 with great putt from short-sided bottom of mounded green)

Justin Rose struggling as well, playing along with Mickelson and US Amateur champ, Fitzpatrick (who are both under par).

Overall, Curtis Strange is saying this course is playing as easy as it has all week. They expect it to get tougher as the week progresses.

Im a little surprised at how much some of the greens have held this morning.  Some of them are throwing darts and they are staying there. We'll see how the afternoon shapes though.

I don't mind Berman. He only does golf once a year so I can handle it. He's not as bad as he used to be. Fox is taking over the World Cup the next go around so it seems like they're taking everything from ESPN.

Buck and Norman are the main guys. I've heard rumors of Gus Johnson as another announcer which I hope are not true. If you think Berman is bad, Johnson is worse.

Remember, guys (at least those in the USA): because of the opening match of the World Cup, television coverage bounces around between channels in the afternoon. ESPN's coverage starts a 9:00 AM (all times Eastern) and stays on the air until 3:00 PM, when NBC takes over for the next two hours. At 5:00 PM, coverage shifts to ESPN2 for an hour; ESPN will pick up the broadcast at the end of the Brazil-Croatia match at 6:00 PM for the final hour of coverage. To repeat (again, all times Eastern)... 9:00A-3:00P: ESPN 3:00-5:00P: NBC 5:00-6:00P: ESPN2 6:00-7:00P: ESPN

Thanks, i was getting a little confused by the crazy schedule, thought some were replays or something

Riley

He said he grew up watching him and was a fan. He was nearly 11 when Payne died.

These morons on our local sports radio show were saying that this course looks like it's garbage. One guy said "They should have paid some locals to come out with garden hoses and water a few days in advance. This thing is burned out, ugly, weed infested and not manicured at all. Call it "natural beauty" if you want, I call it a cost-cutting excuse".

Yea they have no clue what they are talking about. I am watching online, following Fitzpatrick, Phil, and Rose. The course looks spectacular. I've been down to Pinehurst to play some of the courses around the area. I can just imagine how it would be to stand on those tees and view that course. I love it. I really do like how the natural areas look. Actually I stood near 18th green about 2 months before this tournament, and was just amazed at how visually stunning the course looked.

I've noticed some brown spots around the greens where the grass is cut super low, but other than that I think it looks great. Very unique. I love watching the way the greens respond to shots just a few feet long or short.

Edit: now that the cloud cover is gone, there is some discoloration on the fairways as well.

    • Day 106: did a stack session.
    • Day 292 - Filmed some swings focusing on the same thing (setup, grip, wrist at the top).
    • Day 182 (31 Oct 24) - Shorter session today.  Worked with the 5i - setup, alignment and overall tempo - hitting into the net.
    • Thanks! It actually briefly dropped to 5.8 at some point in July, but it felt like it was too rich for my blood every moment of the whole two weeks I held the 'level' for me to sustain it. The term 'impostor syndrome' comes to mind.. :-)) I have certainly done better than I have in the previous years to stay the course in how and what I have practiced but yes, it's a high probability that I'm leaving a lot on the table.
    • Dang... in the realm of things that probably don't matter all that much, golf slumps are the worst. Yes definitely consult a pro ASAP. Get back to hitting it solid again. Hitting the sweet spot solves a lot of problems. For me it's always the latter. My confidence grows as I hit more and more solid shots, which are the result of continuing to improve my swing thru better concepts, better practice, etc.  Yea, this for sure. And also, without a professional there to let you know you "did it better this time" it can be unnecessarily frustrating and confounding working alone. It's not that you can't work alone; clearly, you can. But during rough patches, it's always smart to consult professionals. Lessons are an amazing place to take new concepts and turn them into feels that you are confident will work. It's still really cool you consider this your best ever season. Congrats on hitting 7.8 this year!
