Concert/Show wise when the NFR came to town in December, my wife would buy tickets for the various headliners shows. George Strait, and Reba McEntire were always on that list. I assume the NFR still comes here. Not sure if these folks are still performing these days.

Every so often we will go to local, small clubs to see/listen to what's left of some of the old "Classic Rock" groups. "The Guess Who" was the last one we went to.

We frequently go to local comedy clubs and comedy shows on the LV Strip.

Our next concert/show we attend will be whomever we run into next.

I read two things about some old-timer concerts today:

  • Eric Clapton is a shell of his former self, a husk. His show stinks.
  • Bruce Springsteen rocks his balls off, and even if you're not a Bruce fan, you should attend a concert if you get the chance.

I've always wanted to see Billy Joel and he plays once a month at Madison Square Garden. I guess I'll pick a date and go. Just a train ride away.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has some tour dates "in the area" sometime in December/January. That will take a little more planning if I want to go see them.

So far this year we've seen The Church, The Lemonheads, and Perry Farrell.  The Church were amazing, The Lemonheads seemed bored and uninterested, and Perry Farrell was just a ball of awesome-crazy.

We also saw Bert Kreischer's live comedy show, and I laughed so hard that I physically hurt.

I think we've blown our concert wad for the year.

We've been to more concerts this year than we normally go to. Nils Lofgren, Dave Mason/Steve Cropper, Rickie Lee Jones, Al Green, Santana/Doobie Brothers were all pretty memorable. But I most enjoyed seeing my favorite male and female singers within a span of a few weeks, David Gray and Anita Baker.

My old but trusty bag is filled with clubs I built...Integra SoooLong 450 10.5°, Jackaroo II 13* 16* 23*  hybrids, Dynacraft irons and wedges...plus a sweet Tad Moore Peach putter.

My wife and I went to see my son play with The Dee Snider Band at Rockfest in Barcelona in July.  We can be seen up on the left side of the stage.  My son Nick is the long haired guitarist also stage left.   Quite an overwhelming experience to be up here with them watching almost 50,000 people.

    • Wordle 898 4/6* ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ 🟨⬜🟨⬜🟩 ⬜🟨🟨🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 total whif to start and finish par….will take it every day!
    • This makes sense to me.  It simply assumes your 2nd 9 would be roughly average (aka "expected differential").  I doubt this will result in any significant swing in HCP, it would be similar to golfing a good 9 this week and an average 9 next week and combining those.  The main difference is the HCP gets updated faster.
    • Exactly - if I might draw a parallel. In general, the biggest difference between different levels of ability is long game, not short game. But that doesn't mean an individual can't be behind more on short game than long game. Or even potentially better at the long game, but worse overall because their short game is terrible.
    • This is something close to what I would have expected.  In the example, a 14.0 Index shoots a Differential of 7.2 for the first 9.  They add the "expected differential" of 8.5 to come up with a 18-hole differential of 15.7.  Take that 8.5 "expected" differential, double it for 18 holes, we come up with a Differential of 17, or about 3 higher than the player's HI.  That's pretty close to the average score for a typical mid-handicap player, 3 over par.
    • I've never played this course but from the article to me it seems people did want to play it so I am guessing simply the sale of land is more profitable than keeping the course open.  Any one here play this course?  It reads like it went down hill the last couple of years and given the resurgence of golf after the pandemic I would expect it had traffic but not reinvesting into the course with expectation of selling. An upcoming auction will determine the fate of this once-proud Ohio golf club "I know there are people who want it to remain a golf course," said a realtor. And it still could be.
