Woof...that's rough.

I four putted once last year, and (fortunately...knock on wood) 0 times this year. I hate 3 putting...4 putting is a nightmare.

Woooow. Shocking. I honestly thought only Phil, JD or Boo Weekley was capable of this.

Makes me feel better (not really). ;-) I three putted today from about 15 feet and I'm going to be mad about it for a long time. His game was just a bit more important than mine so I don't even want to know how he feels.

I know how Rory feels plus 1.  I had the unfortunate experience of 5 putting today.  lol  Too make matters worse, it was on a Par 3.  The hole is 94 yards straight up hill.  You can just barely see the top of the flag from the tee box.  If I use a 9 iron, I'm in the sand bunkers in front.  Been there done that.  I hit my 8 iron a little left and when I got up there I couldn't find it.  I walked all over but thought it might have kicked off and down into a steep ravine.  I even checked all over the out of bounds on the back side.  I seen a guy just getting to the green before me so I thought I better get a move on.  I dropped a ball at the edge of the woods and flopped a shot about 20 feet past the hole.  I walked towards it and seen my original ball about 6 inches into the second cut around the green.  I flopped that one out of the high stuff about 15 ft past the hole.  I then marked it and putted it past about 5 ft.  I marked it again and then I had 3 run around the lip putts before draining a 5" putt like a pro.  I guess I should have used the marker in hindsight.  Rory looked like he was hurrying just like me.

And I thought Snedeker's from a few years ago was bad... That's gotta be the worst four putt I've ever seen.

I was there today. It was not pretty and he seemed uninterested after that. Didn't even stick around to sign autographs for the kids. Some days are just like that.

I can't believe this is even a topic.   That being said I bet he wishes he took a little more time on his 2nd putt.  Its one of those where you need to take a good look to make sure your seeing your line correctly.  Ive missed a lot (or should I say a ton) of 4 footers when I took them for granted. Most of the time its because your just pissed you missed the previous putt ha ha.  He will get it together tomorrow but that might cost hit the win this weekend.

It never happens to people who give themselves putts. Funny that. :-P

I had a 6 foot sidehill putt yesterday. If I had missed it I would have had the same distance coming back.

Also , many players haven't even seen extreme breaks on fast greens.

That isn't to say that Rory wasn't a little careless.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

My mom would have told me I could "pick it up behind the at." :smartass:

(Sorry. Couldn't resist.)

It's been a while since I 4 putted, but I am quite positive there are some just waiting to happen in my putting future.

In Mcllroy's case, it was just his turn.

Yep.

I hit a long lag to about two feet the other day lipped out the the 2 footer, then (same round) I missed my line by a hair on another 2 footer and just burned the edge. My buddy said, "see, that's why you should pick those up". He was serious too.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
