EDIT: Fixed it. Only works on the PC does not work in the iPhone application because you need to unsign the round first. Not happy with having to guess the yardage, but it was a 120 yard driver shot into a tree anyway. :-P

38 deg F, windy and cloudy, soggy ground from two nights of rain, no roll on fairways, brrr.. Forgot my warm mitts but used golf glove. Decent round. Missed only one fairway with driver. Not bad for this time of the year.

Not bad at all, no. Glad you got out to play.

Played in some strong wind on our trip to Hawaii, weather guy said it was up to 30 mph, so reasonably happy with +1 and +4 for these rounds. Also first couple rounds with my new G driver, G fairway and Crossover, hit all three clubs really well.

My first time at this course.  It's a private club, but they have a deal with their sister course which is public and part of several courses that have an "Insider Club."  You purchase into the Insider club and get 1 free round at the course purchased and 20% off all the participating courses.  2 private courses, Bayou and River Hills, are sister courses of 2 of the publics and offer a few days a month to us for play.  Sorry for the long narrative!

+2 after 9 holes. The front nine is the tougher of the two. I got through 12 holes before the sun started setting behind the trees.

6 out of 9 GIR on the front nine. :-D Grees were slow, probably about 8.5-9 on the STIMP. These greens are usually 10.5 maybe pushing 11's if they just cut them. I was leaving a good amount of putts short today. I was reading them well.

The new driver worked out pretty good. Though it's only 10% FIR, the ball was in play for the most part. I think the swing started to get a tad too long on the driver later one. I hit a nasty pull draw OB on hole #12.

For the first round of the year without hitting a ball in over a week, and not having a warm up at the range before I think i played pretty decent. The irons were solid.

I just need to get the swing more consistent and work on the bleeping short game.

Played in a handicap tournament this past Saturday. Game Golf split up the round into two nine hole rounds. I think because it used to be 27 holes. Not sure if I can combine the 2.

This was the first round of any kind that I've played since September of last year. So I wasn't going to be too hard on myself.

The course was in full dormant state and a little soggy from rain the previous two days. Greens were Zoysia and very firm but rolling nicely. No ball marks could be found anywhere.

Overall the full swing was not too bad considering I've been working with Evolvr since mid January. My main swing thought was to feel the right side crunch into impact all the way to the follow thru and hold that position. 3 drives got away from me. The others were all in play and fairly solid. I would give the irons a grade of B+. Other than 2 fat wedges and one thin one the grade would be higher.

The chipping and pitching however were a different story. F- did not get up and down once. Didn't even get close enough for a realistic shot to make the next one. Need some work there.

The putting wasn't too bad. Any putt I had of descent length I could hear @iacas in my head saying "just hit the putt that distance, hit the putt that distance." Worked pretty well, only two 3 putts, one from 42ft and one from 51ft. Hit both to inside 5ft and missed um.

I did manage to get a skin and a closets to the pin, 167 yd par 3...7 iron to 7'2". And missed it. :pound:

Just going to keep working on what I've been working on until it gets comfortable...probably 1-2 years from now. ;-)

First practice round of our golf league this year. Official league play starts on March 30th.

Overall is was okay. Kept it in play off the tee. I was very pleased with the few chips and pitches I had minus one pitch on the par 5 15th that I hit thin.

No three putts which is unusual for me. Missed a 5 footer for birdie on 13.

Played today, 38 points, 2 under net par. This is about average for me, so I think I need my handicap changed. Apparently easier said than done !!

In my bag (Motocaddy Light)

Taylormade Burner driver, Taylormade 4 wood, 3 x Ping Karsten Hybrids, 6-SW Ping Karsten irons with reg flex graphite shafts. Odyssey putter, 20 Bridgestone e6 balls, 2 water balls for the 5th hole, loads of tees, 2 golf gloves, a couple of hand warmers, cleaning towel, 5 ball markers, 2 pitch mark repairers, some aspirin, 3 hats, set of waterproofs, an umbrella, a pair of gaiters, 2 pairs of glasses. Christ, it's amazing I can pick the bloody thing up !!

@mvmac On hole #12 it looks like you hit your gap wedge out of the water.  Did you edit it that way so you could see your 1st shot?

The way I do it I wouldn't be able to see all of my first shot, the flight would be just to where I tap my next club.  Nice eagle on # 13

    • I mean, a golfer is trespassing and damaging property. So, golf rules don’t supersede state laws. 😉 Like, if it isn’t marked and is off golf property. The right thing to do is take an unplayable lie or take stroke and distance.  Also, this is a liability for the course. The homeowner could easily say the course is liable for damage done because they knowingly didn't mark their boundaries which allowed golfers to trespass and damage property.
    • Interestingly enough, if the course (the Committee in Rules terms) doesn't mark the boundaries, there is nothing out of bounds.  I realize that neighboring homeowners would take a dim view of golfers whacking balls from their backyards, but that's what the Definition of Out of Bounds requires. "All areas outside the boundary edge of the course as defined by the Committee."
    • I had two events the past two days. Yesterday I was playing a course blind. Hit it solid. Hit 9/14 fairways, 12/18 greens, 34 putts. Many of those putts were the result of balls that were close-ish to the hole when they landed, but wound up a long way away once they'd finished rolling (backwards mainly). Then today, hit 11/13 fairways, 11/18 greens, 37 putts, and shot 80. 8 over par and it wasn't particularly pretty. My big problem today was my pitching. I was inside 100 yards of the hole and off the green on 9 occasions.  1st - drive to about 75 yards, fanned a 58 degree short and right. On the green, but a good 40 feet away and good two putt from there (so took 3) 2nd - laid up to a bunker and it's narrow past it, so had 165 in, missed it right with an 8 iron. Wet rough, chip from about 5 yards off the green and the club snagged. It got on the green, but only temporarily. Overcorrected a bit on the next one and hit it a bit firm and it rolled out to about 35 feet. Putt didn't break and it ran on a bit and I missed the one back (greens were fast and a little bumpy, which didn't help, but doesn't excuse either). (took 5 to get down from close to the green) 4th - had about 95 from the right rough, hit it on the green and two putts (3) 5th - 90 from the fairway, tugged it and it got a firm bounce, chipped on and hit what I thought was a decent chip, but it ran out down the hill and two putts from 20 feet (4) 7th - 65 from the fairway, significant upslope and hit it a bit hard, ran long left against the collar. Tried to blade a PW, but it got under a bit so didn't advance it anything like far enough. Made a good two putt from there (4) 11th - 63 from the fairway, hit a squirrelly pitch on the green and two putts (3) 12th - 75 from the semi-rough, caught it a bit clean and it wound up on the back edge. Putting down a tier and it ran 8 feet past (that was actually a really good putt and couldn't have done any better I don't think) and missed that (4) 13th - 55 from the fairway, overcorrected and hit the big ball before the small ball. Then made a stellar up and down from 25 yards short to an elevated green with a putter (3) 15th - down in three from a greenside bunker (3) That was it. The other 9 holes I hit it on the green from outside 100 yards. So on those 9 occasions, I took 32 shots to get in the hole. 3.56 average. Terrible. Reason I'm posting this in here is to see if anyone has any suggestions for how to work on my contact with pitch shots. I don't have access to a grass range. Only mats and it's easy off a mat. Partly I think my problem is I've hit it off mats so much this winter that I've lost my judgement on where the ball is versus the ground because of the leeway granted. Open to ideas. I also suspect that under pressure I stand a bit closer to it and then get steep and hit down on it and it puts me in a bad place, but I can't seem to get myself to not do that.
