But 1>0, too.

LOL. I watch waaaaaay more college football than I do pro football and really don't have a favorite pro team but I do pay a little bit of attention to the NFL.

When I first read your comment about Peyton winning 2 Super Bowls I wondered how I could have completely missed one of them.

Thought the first stages of dementia were setting in. ;-)

18>14? Really?

Did you have to go there? :pound: I may run for office in two years and my campaign slogan will be 14>18!

Matt Cassel was 11-5 and he isnt regarded as a very good QB-so Brady can add a win or two to that based on the team that doesnt mean he is a great QB all Time.-The team you play for does a lot to help you win-Or help stop you from winning. The current elite QBs are Tom, Peyton, and Ben. Brees and Rogers are a full first down behind them. Luck there too. Sharp drop-off after that. All time-Wait for them to retire and give it a few years to look back.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

Ben? Flip Rogers with Ben and you're spot on. And, I'd add Romo to the 2nd tier.

I wouldn't putt Big Ben in the elite QB range. If you look at the last three years worth of QBR the top 4 QB's have been

Peyton, Rivers, Rodgers, Brady

Ben has only been in the top 5 QBR once in his career, in 2007. This is only the 2nd time his QBR has been the top 10 in the past 3 years. He's consistently a 10-15th best QB in the NFL.

I won't say whether or not Peyton Manning is the best QB ever,he is awful good, but I respect him for his personality, his demeanor, and for being a true gentleman. BTW, another good QB who is a real gentleman with a great personality is Aaron Rodgers

Just saw this on The Facebook. I don't really care one way or another, just sharing.

http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/content/no-debate-facts-show-tom-brady-better-than-peyton-manning/31873/

The Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning debate has dominated the interwebs now for at least a decade. The debate will continue for decades to come after the careers of these two all-time greats are over.

But for those people devoted to the stats, the data, the truth; for those people devoted to the Cold, Hard Football Facts, there is no debate: Tom Brady is an empirically superior quarterback.

Here's the long version the story.

Brady and Manning are statistical equals; one's just played longer

The average Brady-Manning debate typically breaks down along this fault-line: Brady wins, but Manning is statisticaly superior.

Manning, for example, set the all-time touchdown pass record two weeks ago, and will soon own almost every single individual passing record.

Brady is not exactly chopped liver in the stat department, folks. He is right now fourth all-time in career TD passes (381) and is fifth in passing yards (51,541). Based on likely expectations, Brady will finish his career in the Top 3 or even Top 2 all-time in most major passing categories. It's unlikely he'll catch Manning's totals. But the notion that Brady is statistically inferior is a fabrication.

Manning's prolific records are largely volume stats – stats based upon how long and how often you play. Hell, Vinny Testaverde is an all-time top 10 quarterback if we rely on volume numbers. Even someone who believes in the myth that Manning > Brady would not put Testaverde on their all-time Top-10 list. He's just a guy who played a long time.

When it comes to volume stats, remember Manning has played three more seasons and 46 more games than Brady. His career has been nearly 25 percent longer than Brady's. Manning has attempted 1,841 more passes – nearly 27 percent more pass attempts than Brady.

Of course Manning boasts gaudier volume stats. He's played longer and thrown the ball far more often!

When considering the supporting cast, Fivethiryeight says Moss improved the play of his QBs more than any other reciever:  http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/randy-moss-may-well-have-been-the-greatest-receiver-of-all-time/

After the events of the last 6 weeks or so, I'd like to take back anything I said in this thread that might hint towards me believing that Peyton is the greatest ever.

If I had to vote now, I think I'd take a coin and put Joe Montana's face on one side and Tom Brady's on the other and flip it.  I couldn't go wrong.

Would you have said that if Pete Carroll decided to give the ball to the best back in the league and the seahwaks won the Super Bowl?

What about if David Tyree hadn't made one of the most insane catches in the history of the sport?

If Pete Carroll decided to give the ball to Lynch and he scored, Brady would have brought them back for the tying field goal, forced the first ever SB overtime, and then won it in OT, so we ALL would be saying it. :-P

Simmons pointed out yesterday on his podcast that the Patriots are 2 PLAYS away from being 6-0 in Super Bowls during this era and they are also 3 plays away from being 1-5.  The same can be said for the Steelers as well.

I agree. Counting championships is silly way to decide who the best qb in history is. Too much of the game is decided by things outside their control.

I would never say it. :p But your point about Simmons is right on. All their super bowls were tight. A what if viniteri misses a fg or two? And that doesn't take anything away from what they accomplished. A team should be judged by the outcome, because Tyree and vinitiri were parts of those teams. Just a silly way to judge the best qb of all time. I mean, nobody is going to walk away saying that Blount is a better rb than leveon bell just because Blount's team won the Super Bowl.

    • Day 36: 15 balls, same as last few days. Then a little indoor putting.
    • hey guys, sorry about the kind of short notice, but i'm not going to be able to make it to the outing this year....
    • Had to correct the distance - should have read 5,400 not 5,500  yds.
    • Had to report this one - played Minnesott again today with my son.  We played behind the Friday Men's group and had a decently paced round.  My round started off par-par-bogie.  I was feeling good to be +1 through three.  Played the next two par - par and then disaster hits - well I thought it may be the unravelling of +1 through five.  Tee shot on six is a hard pull hook into the ditch separating four and six.  I know the ball is lost and re-tee - hitting three off the tee on this par five.  Long story short - what should have been at worst a bogie became a triple 8.  Now I'm +4 through six holes.  Get a solid par on seven (which I celebrated as a solid recovery hole).  Eight is a birdie and I'm back to three over.  Nine, a par 3 over water, finishes par for a 39 front.   We roll to the back to where I birdie ten (the toughest hole on the back) to be -1 after the first hole on the back, +2 for the round.  Par eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen and fifteen - that was an in the zone moment.  Have to note that fourteen - the second par 3 on the back - I hit the tee shot just short right of the flag.  Easy pitch with the 56 should put me close for a tap in par.  It does not happen - as I duff the pitch to about 3yds closer.  I reset and this time I nip it nicely only to see it land and slowly roll to the cup and drop in for a chip-in par save ( a first).   We get to sixteen and I am thinking this could be a really good round.  It's also a par 5 and I hit a solid tee shot.  I'm about 220 from the center of the green and figure I can layup with the 3w as there is a nice landing area in front of the green and it would play nicely into the typical distance I hit this club.  I'm sitting about 50 yds from the flag to the right hand side.  I overcook the 56 and see the ball bounce off the back of the turtle green.  I hit an easy 56 again to see the ball roll to the other side of the green.  Long story it became a 3putt double.  Now I am +4 through sixteen.  The last two holes are solid pars - one an up and down, the other a GIR two putt. Finished the back 1 over at 37.  Total score is a 76!  A new personal best.  Best "all around" play through the bag to date.
