Thanks everyone, looking forward to a memorable event and golfing with an abundant of premier golf fanatic's.

Although, if I were a betting man, I would have to wager the West Coast Team will be victorious.

They have a slight edge over the East coast guys who play a much different style of golf courses than Desert Golf.

Also, they have a much better Captain !!!

Club Rat

Welcome!

Well for your sake good thing you are not a betting man then!

A much better Captain?? Wow, wasting no time with the niceties. Going straight for the jugular are we?

Yupp, this is going to be fun!

I want to partake in the trash talking, but the high schooler in me keeps coming back with yo mama jokes lol.

However, the west team is so tough, we top our bloody marys off with some rattle snake venom.

Not trash talking, but when I was in Milwaukee I had a Bloody Mary garnished with a Usinger's sausage, and served with a pony-bottle of Miller High Life.  Breakfast of Champions!!

Your captain is afraid of snakes. Even the ones the size of a small worm. So there.

There's no snakes in Arizona, right?

No.  I'm pretty sure that they all skipped town when the governor signed that law that said all illegals (vertebrate or otherwise) had to carry their papers at all times.

I played Pinnacle Peak CC a couple years ago and there was a big one on the cart path near the first green.

And the "fear" is more of an "ick" factor than a fear of getting injury or something like that.

No snake-fear shame from me. Once a garden snake slid past me when I was cutting the grass and I ran at a full sprint for about thirty seconds before I stopped.

Playing in in a tournament down in Pueblo Colorado (Walking Stick Golf Course) I once had a rattlesnake seek refuge from the sun underneath my bag while I was putting. I went to grab my putter headcover, which I usually toss under the bag while I putt, and found the headcover to have been displaced. That one scared me a bit for sure.

Have faith Shindig, the West Coast Team will be drinking "Champs" pane from the Newport Cup this year.

The East Coast has no clue about the "Jumping Cholla's"  in the Desert which awaits their wayward shots.

I'm going to give a little advice to the East Coast members - "Pack a pair of needle nose pliers and welding gloves in your bag" you'll wish you had them when you need them.

Also, carry several clubs if you venture off "Las Sendas" which translates in Spanish "the Pathways" and is also the name of one of the toughest golf courses in AZ.

I've seen the jumping cholla before, I think I got within maybe 10 paces of it.  Now, I've never played at Moon Valley, do they have cactus in the fairway there?

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
