Just loving the fact it's a links course for a US Open!

On a side note, anyone else having problems with the "Featured Group" Live Feed on the USGA website? Plays for a minute then goes down..

No problem at my end with stream, surprisingly I've got it on the smart TV.

Was watching it earlier on the tablet with no problem.

BTW, does anyone know of FoxSports will be streaming starting 12 EDT or will it just be on tv?

If you are having problems with the USGA stream and using IE.....try switching to Chrome....worked for me.

Joe Buck must be out of shape.  Yeah, Cole Hammer is young.  But he jogged swiftly for about 25 yards.  Like that shit requires Olympian level fitness.

Molinari takes a commanding lead in the "dungeon" 12 over.

Go figure, I gave him the curse having him as my starter this week in Fantasy Golf.

Front nine playing a stroke tougher than the back nine so far: 36.6 to 35.6 (both par 35).

Toughest hole is #7 averaging 4.7 as a 515yd par 4. By contrast, #8 is averaging only 4.8 as a 602yd par 5.

Easiest stretch seems to be 12-15, playing a tad under par for that stretch. (0.35 under par as a group of 4 holes, but the entire course is playing +2 average).

Yup ... usopen.com on my computer (using Chrome as well) and the US Open App on my phone, and so far (knock on wood) there have been no issues for me. :)

Since marijuana is legal in WA state (i think) is there any prohibition on US Open players smoking/using the stuff, either on or off the course?  And since this is not a  PGA tourney, what are the rules guiding 'drug' use at the Open?

The official answer seems to be, "don't worry about it (but don't you dare bring in bottled water)."

Yeah, it's not bad. They're making a few mistakes here and there. Buck and Norman sound a little rusty at times, but as long as they show golf and show different players, I'm happy.  I love all the different angles on the course.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
