Obviously not as boisterous as DT, but some of his ideas are fairly shocking.

Sanders is another one of those "career politicians".

Sanders' ideas aren't really that shocking, and neither are Trumps, if we're being totally honest with ourselves. They both have strong roots in American culture and politics; socialist policies and racist policies have often coexisted simultaneously. The GI Bill is a perfect example of that: free college for all returning vets, except for those who were black.

Only jump in to state that Sanders' record, in his 8 years as mayor, showed that he cooperated with businessmen and allied with them, cut costs, increased the city's pension growth, and modernized Burlington. While his worldly ideals are liberal, he  is portrayed as an efficient, pragmatic administrator (NY Times article - so I'm sure this post loses all its credibility by referring to the #1 newspaper in the world).

I think Trump overstepped here, clearly. I'd expect he'll back off somewhat, or his popularity will tank. He might even capitalize on it all by showing himself to be a fearless "conversation starter," if he can bring in prominent Muslims to his side to show that his views have been moderated (doubtful, as he shows no history of this).

With or without Trump in this world, people in the world are trending the way Trump is trending, similarly to after 9/11 perhaps. There's a lot of anger over these recent attacks worldwide. Politicians can easily capitalize on that.

Russia is taking ISIS seriously: http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/609757/Putin-ISIS-Islamic-State-Syria-Raqqa-troops-soldiers-air-strike-jets-military. Putin's popularity is growing.

France is shifting electorally: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/08/world/europe/marine-le-pen-and-national-front-get-a-boost-in-french-regional-elections.html. Le Pen rising.

Germany shows signs of the same stirring anger: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/08/world/europe/marine-le-pen-and-national-front-get-a-boost-in-french-regional-elections.html.

Britain is taking a more active role against IS: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-britain-idUSKBN0TL00M20151204

Could be a blip, but it could be much more. Time will tell. When the West gets angry, watch out. Like @jamo says, we could be living through a period that gets analyzed and reanalyzed in the history books. It's not pretty, and it speaks poorly of our current leadership in the West. We can go back to multiple administrations and find lots of fault, but it's clear in retrospect that none of our leaders has done much proactively to make the situation any better. Iraq invasion- not so great. Grand outreach speech in Cairo- hmmm, Egypt's new government is leaning away from the West and toward Russia.  If anything, things are accelerating downward as time goes on. Islamic supremacists (yes, a small subset of Muslims) hate us more every day, it seems. This will not end well, sadly.

Granted, the standards for news is falling - "All the News It Wants to Print",  lol, but I did not get the #1 from them. According to some sources, the WSJ is #8 and Washington Post is #4. Hey, it's what I read, that and the local Morning News. Just because I read it, does not mean I agree with all of it. Many conservatives read the NY Times. They have "conservative" columnists who others will label as moderates or flaming liberals, depending on the labeler's extremism. I see conservative comments in the Op-Ed - and the comments, sometimes you will have over 1k comments on big issues.

As to Trump, I sometimes wonder if his recent comments are some elaborate plan to fall in the polls. But I do not wonder that much -- I think he ego is so large and dominating that he believes what he says. He is on the way out ... finally. Is there any so-called conservative that can win against Hillary? It's not Mr. Ted "Carpet Bomb Nuclear Glow" Cruz (carpet bombing is a war crime) ; maybe Rubio ...

Interesting article about Cruz recently -- no one that has known him for a long time -- likes him. A man who is universally disliked... nice.

Yesterday Trump said no Muslims should be allowed in the U.S. until our leaders  "find out what's going on," whatever that means. In addition to Republican presidential candidates universally condemning that remark, former Vice President Dick Cheney added his voice. If someone whose moral compass as skewed as Cheney's finds fault with Trump's statement, that should open a few eyes that are to this point closed.

So, here's an updated list of which voters Trump offended so far

  • Mexican rapists -> later expanded to "kick out" all illegals
  • Hispanics
  • Chinese
  • Women, especially, women who look like Fiorina, Rosie, or act like Kelly, or who breast feed, heck, all women.
  • Muslims - he "love Muslims" but changed his position to "ban" all of them as of yesterday
  • Blacks - no problem roughing up a protester at his rally
  • All other candidates.   Heck, make that all politicians, Obama, Clinton, and even the reps like George Bush II, McCain, ...
  • All media
  • Iowans - they are stupid for not making him #1 at the poll

Which group did I miss?

I wonder if this is the one time he has actually gotten scared.  Maybe just maybe he has finally realized the magnitude and scope of responsibility that being president would be and deep down he knows he doesn't have the time and energy nor the smarts to do it all the way he likes to run his other businesses.  I don't know, personally I think he has been trying to sabotage his candidacy for a while now.  Either way, so long as he is not the candidate.

I am beginning to sense the same.   Then again, it may just be his ego and stupidity which convinced him that he can win it all.

The other day, I was thinking what if RNC throws Trump out of the party.   That must be an option at this point.   The longer the Trump show goes on, more permanent damage it will do to the party and its future.

I can't wait to see the results of the Iowa caucuses.  If Trump wins there and follows up with a win in NH, it'll be interesting to see who drops out and who the voters in other states gravitate to.

That's my theory - The Costanza Theory.  How else can you explain this beauty:

http://money.cnn.com/2015/12/08/technology/donald-trump-internet/

"We're losing a lot of people because of the Internet," Trump said. "We have to go see Bill Gates and a lot of different people that really understand what's happening. We have to talk to them about, maybe in certain areas, closing that Internet up in some way. Somebody will say, 'Oh freedom of speech, freedom of speech.' These are foolish people. We have a lot of foolish people."

I honestly can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

Yeah, I wonder, too.   But methinks, Trump wilt not win Iowa, people he called "stupid."  By then, a few more candidates will drop out and I don't think their supporters will go to Trump.

IIRC, the last polling from Iowa showed him in first and Senator Cruz on second so it'll be tough for Donald Trump to spin a loss in Iowa.

    • Day 132: did some mirror work while watching TV. Worked on backswing stuff primarily.
    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
