I'm not able to tell if (1) if he truly believes he is hitting it well; (2) he knows he's got issues but is trying to keep thinking positively, to the point of being unrealistic, or (3) he's tired of the media pointing out problems and he's knee-jerk reacting in almost Belichickian defiance.  No matter which one, nice rounds at comfortable, forgiving courses like Greenbrier and RTJ provide false sense of improvement.

A lot of surprising names up there this week. Not sure where Scott Piercy came from. Didn't know he was still even playing golf.

Well, that's assuming the leaders don't go lower. Tiger needs 65 or less or he's done. Or do you mean just to make the cut?

More to make the cut, but imo if you make the cut you can get in contention Sunday with two good rounds. Of course, Tiger hasn't shown that yet.

He just won the Barbasol a few weeks ago. But til then, he'd been hovering in and out of top 100:

The announcers on PGA.com are so in the bag for Spieth it's absolutely nauseating. They're falling over each fawning over him. Makes me want to vomit.

Thanks for the graphic. Didn't even pay attention to the Barbasol. Forgot they played an event opposite the British. Wow what is this Lingmerth on? Another birdie? Damn was thinking about putting a couple bucks on him but thought his length would hinder him. What would suck for the guys this morning is if it storms this afternoon like they're forecasting and they get to play the course after in soft conditions. That'd be the ultimate backslap.

Remember, it is not Spieth's fault ... it is the announcer's issues.

Same as Tiger ... he can't help it when they spend waste time on him.

It's almost like Ian Baker-Finch. Why I can't stand him. He fawns over every player. He's basically the Jon Gruden of golf, except he's not as cool.

We're seeing what life is like for Jordan Spieth when he actually doesn't putt well. Missing a lot of makeable birdie putts the last couple days that he usually makes with his eyes closed.

Jordan "it went right!" WHy don't you just read the putt for Zach...

Oh, I know it's not his fault but Johnson is having a great round so far and they're pretty much glossing over him.

Funny how Rory and Jordan have been at almost the identical score all tournament so long. They even hit the identical tee shots on the long par 3 17th.

I think Spieth gets a little star struck at times with certain players. Just a perception.

Spieth and Rory have been okay, but at some point they've got to start making some birdies. Zach got off to a great start. If only he wasn't +3 at the start of the day.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
