  1. 1. Yea or Nay on Baba Booey

    • Yea, I think it's kinda funny, doesn't hurt the game. Golf is too serious anyway.
      7
    • Nay, the people that yell aren't really fans and should be kicked out.

So, you would yell under what authority? Seems to me like you would be overstepping your boundary. I would think the proper action would be to call over someone with an official capacity to deal with it.. Your example of the movie theater is perfect.. Someone from the theater would come and kick them out.. Let's look at it another way.. You yell at him and he says shut the f* up.. You have two choices now, you either yell back and eventually both of you will be kicked or you stay quite and you were just insulted for no reason, or the 3rd option which is you both start fighting and no one wins.. I think yelling at him in any capacity would be an extremely naive thing to do, with unintended consequences to potentially follow.. And for what??

"Would you please stop yelling " Go f*** yourself We fight, I win. 3rd option. Hurt ego, learned lesson, no more yelling. Done.

While I'd take immense pleasure in standing there and watching an obnoxious drunk loudmouth get his block knocked off (hell, I'd even cheer you on!), there's no way I'm rolling in the dirt with some a-hole and taking a chance on me being the one arrested.  I'd either get course personnel there to handle it (if they'd even bother), grit my teeth and bear it, or go find another spot to spectate where the a-hole quotient wasn't so high.

People like that are why I hate going to professional sporting events and very rarely do so.  Spend all that money for tickets and parking, pay a fortune for a beer, have to stand in line for 5 minutes to take a piss, and put up with a bunch of loudmouth neanderthals crowding me and spilling beer on me - nah, I'd rather watch it at home where the cameras are up close to the action, I have instant replay/rewind, and the only drunk a-holes I have to tolerate are the ones I invited. :-)

I know im going to get ripped for saying this but didnt all this yelling crap start soon after Tiger showed up on the scene? I think he brought in alot of the younger non courteous crowd when he came out or it could just be the whole way people act these days.

Yeah and there was no drought in California before Tiger showed up.

Go back and watch videos of old golf tournaments. Preferably in black and white. You'll see that they didn't even rope off the spectators from the players. Cheering was common and loud.

This "mash potatoes" and "baba Booyey" crap is much more recent. Maybe 10 years or so. I don't recall anyone yelling crap like this when Tiger came on in 1999-2000 and had massive crowds.

"Get in the hole" was from Caddyshack, which was released in 1980. Tiger was 5 then.

I think Stern is a giant douche, and I think yelling "Baba-Booey" at a golf tournament is even douchier.  It ranks right up there with the other nozzles yelling "Mashed potatoes!", "You da man!", "Get in the hole!" (on a par 5 tee shot, no less), etc.  There's nothing funny or socially redeeming about it and the asshats who do it should be immediately ejected from the premises.

Maybe next post I'll dispense with the subtlety and tell you how I really feel about it.

Well said.  Along with the comment that "baba booey" got old decades ago. Yelling anything to bring attention to yourself. just points you out as having the maturity of a 15 year old. I wish PGA would evict these people.

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

Oddly you are basically asking what gives someone the right to define the limits, then define them yourself with an air cannon (of which I agree with you) ... I bet they felt that was harmless fun at the time ... and probably are still laughing their ass off about it.

I find yelling ... and air cannons offensive ... vote that everyone be issued a "your a a$$hole" dart gun upon entering the event ... if you are found with 10 a$$hole darts attached to you, your immediately ejected from the event.

The difference being that the air cannon was fired during the back swing interrupting the player's stroke, now if people were yelling during the back swing of peoples drives I'd be against it but they are yelling after and not distracting the player during his stroke. Watch the clip and you'll see the difference.

Come on. Ask a PGA pro and I guarantee that they would say it doesn't bother them, the "shouts" are ALWAYS post swing. I'm sure the opposite can be said with cell phones and cameras clicking in their back swing. It's not about you (spectators) and it never will be about you. it's about the the guys inside the ropes. Go cry all you want, but do it on your mom's time. On that note. "LIGHT THE CANDLE" bahahaha.

LOL! Awesome Mac62. I have to agree with this. I've only been to 1 major and that was the 2001 U.S. Open. I don't recall hearing anyone yelling after tee shots. I followed Tiger, Phil, saw all the big names. I enjoyed it overall for the experience but in all honesty I'd prefer the TV presentation.

sheesh ... as long as it doesn't disrupt a players swing, whatever, doesn't really bother me.    The absurdity of some of the comments amuses me (like the usual "in the hole" on a 600 yd par 5).

I need to loosen my collar, it's a bit stuffy in here ...

While I'm a big fan of the Howard Stern Show, I think all yelling after golf shots is annoying.  It just gets old really fast.

As an aside, I've found that people who say that they don't like the Howard Stern Show have likely never listened to an entire show before.

I would agree with the above - I thought he was good 20 years ago on KRock ... he's so much better now.

When people do it every hole it gets a little annoying but if i havent heard someone do it in a while then i get a good chuckle out of it. Its all about the timing.

    • Day 5 (6 May 24) - focused on setup and proper alignment (non alignment rods) to mimic visual cues as on course…of course this is backyard so we are talking 50yds max.
    • Day 53. Played 9. Couldn’t find the bottom of the swing arc. It was bad.
    • Awesome, thank you very much. I ended up giving them a call and you are right. Got to try out some different clubs, the first suggestion was the Wilson Staff Launch Pad irons I believe, the hybrid irons. Personally I wasn't liking them all too much, however they were much better than the old '74 MacGregor blades I've been playing. Then I tried a couple others, I forget what the one was but the one I ended up liking the best was the Cobra Aerojet irons. Overall feel and performance was the best for me on these, I also preferred the appearance and sound of these. Bit the bullet.

    • Live Updates from the range! Open the club face at address, and trust that you’re gonna be able to get the face in a good position at impact. I don’t have to feel like I have to keep the face open throughout the entire downswing. The swing feels much more free-flowing through impact. Difference in ball flight is that previously it would be a low to mid trajectory that starts straight and draw left, or slight pulls. New ball flight are high push draws.  It’s kind of stupid. I feel like it should slice off the planet. I look up and it’s maybe a slight push. 🤣 Some distant wedge feels. More weight on front foot. Keep weight on front foot.  Pivot around left knee. Solid contact all the time.
