I prefer low tech, old school, muscle back wedges. I need all the help I can get with my irons, I play x-22s, but with wedges I really like my 60* mp- t11 and 56* Nike SV Tour. My GW is a cally x-22 52* but I never use it for anything but full swings.

Looks like a gimmick to me.  Plan on sticking to my trusted wedges and practice, practice, practice, then some.

I've seen the commercials, and the guys they show struggling to get the ball on the green obviously just need a lesson, not a new club.

Yeah I don't know how that kind of commercial can appeal to anyone. Looks hokey and cheap.

Notice that in the commercials the guys swinging the XE1 Wedge have no lag, not trying to flex the shaft, and go very smoothly through the ball producing great results. The guys with their own wedges, not so much...

You'd be surprised. Seriously…

Just like those sites @david_wedzik and I call "spam sites." The endlessly scrolling multiple-fonts-and-colors web pages that sell all sorts of things.

Has anyone tested this new wedge? Is it just another gimmick? Thanks.

I have this wedge for about a month now. I am a high handicap player who started playing less than 2 years ago.

This high lofted club is hard to master, don't notice any significant difference with another lob wedge I have. While helpful specially at the bunkers, I have not found it to be the panacea described in the ads.

I don't think it's a coincidence they mention the age and handicap of the two subject golfers.

years ago i had a wedge similar to this, an alien wedge.  it was a heavy automatic out of the bunker club.  Extremely easy to get out of the bunker.  A snap to use on better courses with big bunkers.  Also a one trick pony due to the edge and weight.  I lost it years ago, not long after i started and learned to leave wedges on the flag stick.

My wife purchased me the xe1 for Christmas. I've taken it to the range and hit a couple buckets of balls with it, and have played 4 rounds with it and so far, well, I'd say it has added several strokes to my game. It is great in soft, fluffy sand, or on thick grass, but a thin lie, compacted sand, or if your ball is buried in the sand, it is horrible. I'd send it back, but my 60 days are up.

Great replies on here. I was thinking about getting this and then i saw it was from square tk square and the last time i did anything with those guys i had to close that email address due to all the spam i got.

But anyways i think i will just stick with my current scor wedges although i need to replace the 55* and was thinking about adding a 60* to the bag. But inheard the dude who ran scor went back to Hogan. If this is ture im going with Hogan. So im in a pickle do i go scor or go Hogan?

I purchased the XE-1 65 degree wedge last month and it is was a total waste of money!

It is extremely hard to use consistently.  I am a 16 handicapper and spent several hours practicing with it - I wouldn't dare use it during a serious round!  You have to hit it very hard and commit to a very full swing, which is very hard to do on short shots.

I think you are much better sticking with a sand iron.

Received the 59 & 65 degree wedges this week. I play off a 15 handicap but have always struggled with bunker shots and short chips (eg over a bunker).
First practice was in a bunker (65 degree) with a face about waist high (I'm 5'11") and about 15 feet to the back of the green. Previously If I hit 12 shots I'd get about 7 or 8 out and half of those would be over the green. I got 11 out of 12 out and only one of those rolled through (usually I hit them right over without touching the green).
They came out higher and softer than when I use either my sand wedge or 60 degree wedge - the shots just looked and felt right.
I played a round afterwards and only had one bunker shot, which I only just popped out onto the green - I think I will have to get used to being able to commit to the shot.
I understand it  may not be everyone's cup of tea but then neither was the long handled putter. After just a short bit of practise and one round I think it definitely prevents the chance of the club digging into the ground (which I do every now and then) and just gives me more confidence in the shot.
They say it will take a shot per hole off your game which is a ridiculous statement to make (especially since you won't even need the club on every hole) ...... however I think it might save me an average of 2 shots per round and if that means I can lower my handicap by about 2 shots then I think it was a decent investment.
Hey I'm not turning pro anytime ever, so if this helps me to enjoy the game then that's all that matters to me. Purists can go and play a round with their hickory sticks and feather balls and be happy with that too.

My fiancé just bought the version 2 of this club for her.  Unless I'm reading the USGA Informational club Database incorrectly, this version is a legal wedge.

I bought this club 2 months ago and found it to be a total waste of money.  I have practiced many hours with the club and it is very difficult to hit consistently.  The trouble is due to it's extreme loft you need to commit to hitting a very full shot which is very hard to do when you are only hitting it short distances.  Save your money and stick with a normal sand wedge.

I saw an advertisement for this club  that for $99 I could knock off a stroke per hole. I knew then it wasn't worth $99.

I already have similar style club from 15+/- years ago that is collecting dust in a my storage unit. I think it was made by Spaulding, but not sure. It didn't cut it or me.

One of the guys in my club uses an XE1 fairly effectively out of the sand and chipping.  I don't think it's worth a slot in my bag because the club is limited in what it does.  I've watched him thrash at sand but not able to clear the lip of deep bunkers, he's also flown past the flag when short sided and landed well short when the bunker is far from the flag.

If you were always going to use your sand wedge no matter how far or close you are to the flag or no matter how deep or shallow the bunker is, the XE1 isn't a bad option.  Long term you'd be much better off learning how to use all your clubs to best handle the circumstances you encounter but most people don't so that's why the XE1 is an attractive option.
