DJ is contending so I'll probably check out some of it, not much else to watch.

Looks like a Nationwide Tour leaderboard right now. Where are the big boys?

Oh brother, are you going to say these kind of things Again for every tournament this year? How many times did you do it last season?

Changed my mind after catching some of it just now.  Conditions are miserable, fun to watch, regardless who's contending.

I'm sure we all would've preferred to see Fowler, Day, etc. in contention today, but there are plenty of decent names near the top. One of the co-leaders is a former Players champ, and that Jimmy Walker fella is pretty good at golf too. Woodland, DJ, and many others certainly aren't out either because of the crazy weather.

Billy Horschel's tee shot at No. 3

How brutal is it at Torrey Pines right now? This 5-iron only made it 134 yards.

The wind was simply unplayable except for Snedeker.   However, when play resumes tomorrow, Walker & Choi will likely face the similar weather.   Looks like Snedeker did enough to win.

The wind made them look like they were me playing! Drives with 215 carry!

Does anyone know if any network is carrying the tournament today? This turned out to be pretty exciting.

Sky's coverage in the UK has just started, but there is a 2hr delay to make repairs to the course.

It looks like the course took a huge pounding overnight, 2hrs might be hopeful!!

I'm not sure its even the same course any longer, sight lines changed by fallen trees, trees not blocking shots any longer. Its a mess.

I hope the weather stays the same.  Sneds earned it.  It would be a shame if the others get to play nearly a full 9 in anything different than yesterday's conditions when a bunch of others completed the full 18.

The forecast doesn't look like the wind will let up.

I hope so too.  I took an hour dog walk this morning and there was a 40 minute period around 8 am when the wind was calm.  I live about 5 miles from the course.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
