Not a father but Saturday is my birthday and I just got some good news at work so I will definitely be rooted in front of the TV for the final day.  Looks like FOX will be airing coverage Thursday and Friday evenings as well.

I thought only the big names were small children... I mean, had their clothes picked out for them.  Now I need to become world #1 so I could have the "will dress myself, thank you very much" clause in all my endorsement deals.

LOL ... well I would hope those guys have at least some say in their wardrobe.  There were no socks and underwear in the pictures, so hopefully those aren't picked out for them.

Well, except for Gary Woodland.  Pretty sure after the "debacle" earlier this year, UA is going to insist that they choose his underwear for him - on the off chance that he decides to get naked on camera again. :-P

The first half of tomorrow doesn't look bad. All hell is supposed to break loose after 3. The guys in the afternoon may get a huge break if they get to play the course in the softest conditions On Friday when they'd play 36 holes assuming the forecast holds true.

Looks like they're calling for rain to start around 3pm, they may get a good chunk of the round in.

Well, it looks like a possibility of rain/thunder overnight but quitting around dawn, and then just clouds until about the 3 o'clock hour ... so the morning half should all finish their rounds and the afternoon guys will have a mess to deal with.  First tee time of afternoon wave is 12:30, last is 2:42  so those guys may not get through even half of their round tomorrow.

Looks like Friday is mostly open though, so hopefully they can catch up and be on schedule for Saturday.

That is valid from 8 PM Today till 8 PM on Thursday. 00Z is -4 hours right now for eastern time. It looks like the Pittsburgh area is going to see upwards of 1-2 inches of rain. The most looks like to come from Noon till midnight tomorrow.

For those wanting carnage, you may want to do some praying tonight and hope Mother Nature decides to give Oakmont a break. Heard Adam Scott say today that you can see a good chunk of birdies if the course gets soft. Oakmont's dependent on being hard and fast. If you take that away from it, it will surrerender some 65s and 66s. Even Scott said he and Rory had 6-7 birdies a piece when they played the course in soft conditions. Just like Bethpage in '09. That's as demanding a course when it's hard and fast, but when you take the speed out of it, you take the teeth away, too.

The Adidas guys all look pretty sharp, but my vote goes to Webb Simpson ... that is assuming I can shrink the Izod font size down by about 3/4. :-P

And I am almost afraid to ask what is on Horschel's Friday pants.  Are those dice?

Thanks for sharing.  I like Webb's looks as well, and also Sned's Peter Milar lineup.

I'm a big fan of the Nike blade collar, but can't say that I particularly like all the gray that Rory will be wearing this week.  Was hoping to see some blue or green in there for him.

Nah. This year he is wearing Spiderman underwear!

Yo, what kind of tech backward lot do we have here that I have to be the one to post this first? :-D

Tap, hold and move to pan the video.

The Euro Tour actual video'd a couple of holes in one of their events with the 360 view a month ago? It's pretty cool. Not HD quality though despite that it's advertised as HD I think.

An interesting scenario with the 9th green since it also acts as the practice putting green for the course (the back half or third)

I wouldn't be worried about being hit either.

Protracer on 13 tee boxes, radar on 4 and 12. If TM were on 18 holes, that would be like well over a quarter million dollars in tech just for ball numbers. Will be interesting to see what these tracers for approach shots are like.

One area where Fox excelled in its first year was in picking up on-course audio of players and caddies. At Oakmont, Fox will have microphones on all 18 holes to capture audio on the greens.

Protracer will be set up on 13 tee boxes, and Loomis plans to use it whenever possible. Trackman technology will be on holes 4 and 12 to capture data on clubhead speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rate and carry figures. New this year are radio-frequency mobile rangefinders to provide yardages and tracers for approach shots.

So, all this talk about the 288 yard "par 3". . . it irks me.  If you label it a par 4, everyone is excited at the prospect of a drivable par 4.  You label it a par 3, and everyone is saying how unfair it its.  Whatever you label a hole -- a par 3, a par 4, or a par 5 -- one plays for one's lowest score. Everyone plays the same hole and the tourney is won or lost based on total strokes.  Par is just a construct to make it easier to keep track of guys who are playing different holes.

Rant over.

That could be distracting if people are practicing on the club house section of the green as others are trying to hit an approach shot onto the front portion of it.

The setup at Oakmont screams, look here boys, we're not Chambers Bay here. This is USO golf as it was intended. None of that pansy ass west coast sh**. :-P

Tony Finau, a player not lacking of power, can't get it out of the rough. "It's not coming out."

Now, picture that rough after an afternoon thunderstorm, and see why I believe some people's predictions that the tournament will become a birdie fest if it rains is a little premature.

The US Open is my 3rd favorite major, I often don't even tune in for more than an hour the entire 4 days.  I dunno if it's my enthusiasm for the current big 4 or the course, which I've learned a lot about, but I am pumped for this championship.

There really are no courses in the US, other than Augusta, that are on my bucket list.  I could not care less if I ever play Pebble or Torrey, or Sawgrass.  But having learned the history of this place, I've added it to my list.  What a cool place.  My type of course, being in Texas, meaning no trees and I'm sure the fairways would be widened for member play.  I feel like I would light this mfer up, like 93.

Anyway, very excited about it, go Spieth.
