Has anyone tried the Vice line of golf balls?  They look very intriguing to me, I just wanted to see if anyone on here has tried them or even use them regularly.  I currently switch around golf balls pretty often depending on what people give me as gifts and also what I just impulsively buy at Golfsmith.  I've bounced from the Taylormade Burner, to ProV1s, to ProV1xs, to NXTs, and Nike RZNs lately.  I really want to try and settle on a consistent ball to hopefully get more consistent results out of my game.

Never heard of the "Vice Ball" until now.

Myself, I am a big fan of Bridgestone, and/or Volvik golf balls. These are my first choice, as they deliver what I want.

@SavvySwede I believe plays these balls.  The 4 piece Vice Pro Plus, for me, might be worth a try.

Do they call them Vice because it is a downright crime to hit them? Or maybe, because they are stealing your money when the sell them to you?

I've seen adds in the golf mags for them.

Based on what I have read, $15 a dozen for a "tour" ball doesnt seem like them stealing your money.

Can you believe people actually pay for noodle golf balls? Same thing. If its crap Ill go back to the ProV and Chrome Soft. If its decent it makes for a good casual round ball.

Just trying to make a joke. Vice (like Miami Vice) seems like a funny name for a golf ball.

I think @tristanhilton85 has played them also. If I am remembering correctly I think he liked them.

They are German made balls and from what I see have received some favorable reviews

My buddy gave me a sleeve of their "shooter pro" version which is a 3 piece ball made for mid to high swing speed players. My driver swing speed is 112 so I think I qualify for this ball.

First impression is they are gimmicky and a bit busy with logos and whatnot. They feel like a premium ball off the putter face...so we shall see how they perform on Sunday from tee to green.image.jpeg

Going by the website I think the only difference between the Vice Pro and the Pro Shooter is the graphics. Well, that and it's ability to double as a basketball in a pinch.

So after one round, I think the Vice Shooter Pro is a great golf ball. I can back up a pitching wedge a few feet, it checks on low chips, it goes as far if not further than a Prov1X. For $15 a dozen (when ordering 5+ dozen) I think its a hell of a steal for a good golf ball.

I actually think it is more durable than the ProV as well. The cover wasn't cut from my wedges and I played with the same ball all round. Only scuff mark was from hitting a cart path. I will more than likely switch to this golf ball once I run out of my ProV1X I got during the Titleist Loyalty program this year. Overall I was pretty impressed.

I am playing the 3-piece Pro Neon balls.

These fly farther than my usual 2-piece "soft" ball choices. I don't think they spin/stick as much as the ChromeSoft or ProV.

If you order 5 dozen, then the price per dozen drops to 24.95. Compared to other tour ball options, it's a good deal. However, I question durability after landing on a rocky cart path the other day and discovering a little chunk of ball missing. Like peeling a hard-boiled egg - a little shell and a little meat. Never seen that before.

It's a cool product. Targets a younger market niche. And, when's the last time you bought something from Munich?

Thanks for the review.  I reckon I will order a dozen (or maybe their "sampler" pack) to try them out.

Got my Father's Day present early because I'm going to play tomorrow morning: 5 dozen Pro Flamingos. They are very pink. And sparkly!20160617_182942.jpg

I doubt if anyone wants to pick up my golf ball on the course now. B-)

Been playing these balls since around January this year.

Amazing ball.

I initially went with the 'Tour' version to see what the fuss was about and it was the best surlyn ball i've ever played. I then upgraded to the 'Pro' model and again, amazing ball. Will never use another ball.

Check out the golf labs testing on these balls as they outperform Pro V1.

Finally was able to play some this weekend, as my girlfriend got me a dozen of the Tour and Pro models.

Long story short, made a double eagle (first one in my life) from 235 out (3 iron).  It was a pretty incredible experience.  Not that the ball completely made it happen, but lets just say there are now good vibes in my head when it comes to Vice golf balls.

    • Day 11: 2/16/2025 Rince and Repeat: Just like yesterday I spent several 5-10 minute sessions working on what I learned on Friday.
    • Quick update. So, I got the PXG Secret Weapon and I have to say I like it... mostly. (see below) I spent some time with it on the range and I even gathered some data in doors. I'm not going to post data yet, as my swing is still a bit of a work in progress and I'd like to gather some more data after I settle down a little bit more. But here's my review.  First as a driver replacement. ... IMO it is not a replacement, it's clearly more of a supplement... for me anyway. Not long enough to really replace the driver. For me it's about 20 yards short of my driver. It is longer than my 30-wood off the tee. (15 yards-ish) I will say it is easier to hit off the tee than my 3-wood. I get some of my best shots teeing it low, but I also get some of my worst. If I tee it about a full inch off the ground I get very consistent shots. Super repeatable. Amazingly repeatable even with my messy swing. Off the tee, I find it draw biased just a bit. You can tinker with the set up if that isn't your personal cup of tea.  As a 3-wood replacement. For me it's about perfect. It's longer than my 3-wood off the deck (my data showed 10 yards longer) and it has a gentle fade to it, which I love. You do need a clean lie, but I never hit my 3-wood off anything but a clean lie anyway. I found it interesting that I hit a gentle fade off the deck and a slight draw off a tee. I'm sure that's not uncommon. Again, you can tinker with the set up to optimize that if you wanted to... I don't want to.  It's clearly a lot longer than my 3-wood off the tee. Easier to hit off the tee than my 3 wood, and off the deck it's also longer. So, it's a no-brainer 3-wood replacement for me. I will say that over the years I've learned to use my 3-wood for this low-flying-100-yard-punch-out-from-under-a-tree shot.  I'll have to see if the Secret Weapon can handle that duty. But it's going in the bag to replace the 3-wood.  I also turned my 5-wood down from 19 degrees to 17 degrees. ... Incidentally my 3-wood had been 16 degrees. I used to always hit my 5 wood and my hybrid about the same distance. This adjustment helps my gapping a bit at the top of the bag. I can clearly hit my 5-wood farther than my hybrid now.  Overall on the PXG Secret Weapon. The good: It's clearly longer and easier to hit off the tee than my 3-wood. It's a bit longer off the deck than my 3-wood.  It's super forgiving... surprisingly so.  It's uber adjustable. ... Although I do suggest getting fit for it. That will save you having to (or wanting to) buy a weight kit just to try out the infinite number of set ups. The headcover is super cool.  The maybe not so good: Shots out of the middle sound great. Shots off the heal sound great. Shots off the toe sound ... what's the work... clangy? It's very forgiving off the toe and the heal. The flight and the distance are incredibly consistent. But the sound off the toe isn't great.  For me I tend to draw it off the tee and fade it off the deck. You can set it up to be biased either way, but in my hands I think if I set up a draw off the deck, that might induce a duck hook off the tee. ... In fairness that could also be where my swing is at right now.  It's pretty spendy. ... If I really stop and think about it, I paid $450 for a new 3-wood. Granted it's a better performing 3-wood. But for me it's really a 3-wood replacement.
