Hole in one or shooting a personal best without a witness is my worst fear. Second would be loosing or damaging my putter. I'd be fine with replacing every other clubs in my bag except my edel.

Actually a hole in one with a bunch of witnesses is one of my worst fears... That happened to me once in some scramble i was playing in and it cost me $225 bucks... :censored:

This is OT but is there some kind of protocol for hole in one libations? Like miller lite only? Dudes were ordering manhattans with makers mark and shit...

I thought for sure having to play dick out rules on a cold day (after duffing in front of the cart girl) would be number one.

My worst fears as a golfer are unanticipated lightning, and lyme disease (we have lots of ticks in the tall grass).  I can deal with any of the things that GD lists.

Talk about FWP. Worst fear is any kind of injury obviously.

DVR didn't record? You can still stream replays from the Masters website - just tried it, works. DVRs are like so 10 years ago. They're so wieldy and a pain in the alimentary canal to use. In this day and age, it's you want to see, it's there to stream/on demand generally.

Injury bad enough that I couldn't play, not much else do I really fear.

Yeah...the 15th on the black (along with the 18th at Cherry Hills in CO and the 5th at Pine Valley in NJ) are the hardest single holes I've ever played. Ive been playing at Bethpage park since i was a kid and I've played over 40 rounds there. The 15th is only hole on that course I've never birdied. Only a handful of pars.

Yeah, that is definitely mine.  I've come close - my only HIO was during a round where I was playing as a single but paired up with two guys on the 2nd hole...made a hole-in-one on the 8th.

I am currently suffering from the worst case of " The Shanks "
Comes and goes during my last round and my round before and the round before that.

I Duffed my drive in front of the cart girl on par 5 after we bonded over friends and family dying from pancreatic cancer! than I shanked my second shot to a 45 degree angle (maybe 38 degrees)

Than I hit a bad tee shot on a par 3 after the group in front waved us up!

I guess it all wraps into one big fear of not being able to find my swing again!

But when was someone going to tell me the Shingo Katayama hats went out of style??????

Obviously most of us don't truly fear any event associated with golf; we get anxious.  I tend to think about what raises my anxiety level and with that in mind, my greatest golf fears (anxieties) are:

1. A significant golf trip on which the entire time is pretty much a washout. You make the trip to St. Andrews or Pebble Beach and for 5 days it just pours rain non-stop, lightning, wind, etc...  Yes, I own a fairly expensive rain suit and have played in a typhoon, but absolutely awful weather really spoils a trip.  I get anxious before a big trip that the weather won't cooperate.

2. As I age and my game starts the inevitable decline, that I won't be able to accept it.

I'm still dumb enough to think I'm bullet-proof. That leaves the dreaded s-word as the biggest fear with a bullet.

1) Injury. That's my #1 fear on the course. I have a "frozen shoulder" (left) acting up again, but it's under treatment - incoming shot and exercises. Right now on NSAIDs. I'm playing through the pain, but I'm modifying rules to avoid injuring aggravating things more. Hence, the reason I'm not keeping a handicap right now.
