What an absolute treat to again be on the doorstep of another Major starting......

For the gamblers out there, I am taking a very strong position against Mickelson despite his history here -- here are a few reasons:

1.  PMick coming off the best tourney he has played in some time and have to think he is a bit gassed from the intensity

2.  Unlike Troon, I think PMick will need to hit a lot more drivers to get around this course -- gonna be a problem for him

3.  PMick like to "play his way into a major" but given the schedule, it just wasn't practicable for him to play the week before -- change of routine

4.  Although maybe its not going to be as hot as originally thought, it is still going to be very warm -- the kind of think that benefits the guys 35 and younger from a fitness standpoint

Two plays so far -- going to look at the props as well and if I can find a "Mickelson to Miss the Cut" I will be betting it.....GL

Sergio Garcia (-120) over PMick (Full Tournament)

Adam Scott (-105) over PMick (Full Tournament)

I'm pretty much over this Summer's major schedule and am having a hard time caring about this one. Three majors over the course of 6 weeks seriously diminishes the impact for me.

Also it really diminishes the impact of all the tournaments after it.

The Major season did feel a bit rushed this year.  Had we known the Olympics golf was going to be a bust they could left the schedule in place and let amateurs play in the Olympics.

Although it's my least favorite of the majors - it should be a good one.  I'm definitely looking forward to the McIlroy, Day, Mickelson pairing.  I'd like to see Speith make a good showing.  I'd like to see Rory win.  If not perhaps DJ - seems like he's on a role.

In 2020, move the PGA up to May. People will hardly know the difference.

It's so hot, how hot is it? Hot enough to tweet this. Was thinking of playing hooky and going to watch a practice round, but no thanks, I'll take air conditioning for 1,000 Alex.

Two Par 5s to finish is always interesting.

Yeah, that is really unusual - I don't think I've ever noticed anything like this before.  Should make for an exciting finish.

It's going to be really hot here until Wednesday so at some point they will have to get their practice in.

I heard this morning on the radio the heat wasn't going to break until Friday. It's pouring rain right now, thunder and lightning. Summer is here.

High temperature is deceptive, too. Heat index is much higher.

It's like the jungle. And the emergency flooding alert text is going out. It's called a heat dome here. Heat plume in Spain. Whatever man, it's hot.

I thought about going to this, but by the time I decided to get Saturday tickets, they were sold out. I guess I could get tickets from something like StubHub, but I have no interest in dealing with North Jersey traffic (I don't know whether Union County is North or Central Jersey, since Wikipedia says it's both).

I always thought of this major (?) as just another WGC event. Even worse, if they could, the players would add a 5th one just like it. Nope, not much of major contest to me.

The field is significantly stronger than the Bridgestone WGC, for example. It has more of the top 75 than the Bridgestone's had in the past two years (~70-76% ) and a larger sized field so many of those slightly lower ranked players have their 10% chance to get hot and run away with it. It actually had a higher percent of the top 75 than the past two U.S. Opens too, which was more than the Bridgestone too.

It's Central Jersey and most of the traffic on a Saturday should be heading down the shore.

You're probably just driving to a designated parking lot and taking a bus anyway.

Storms seem to be a problem this week. Heavy rain yesterday. Heavy rains expected Friday, Saturday and Sunday...between 60 and 90% chance. So could be looking at another Monday finish at Baltusrol.

McIlroy's 345 yarder swing doesn't look much different from his normal ones.
