Mile Square or Tijeras Creek are not too far from the ocean and possible wouldn't be so hot.  @Golfingdad do those courses get some cooling from the ocean/marine layer?  They look like they might be a bit too far inland to benefit from ocean cooling.

Yeah, they're a bit far away.  I'm in San Clemente right now and it's 75, whereas in RSM it's 81 and Fountain Valley is 79.  Not a huge difference but definitely inland enough to miss out on much of an ocean breeze.  If there happens to be a heatwave, it can easily be >90 in each of those areas.

Is it better for us to stay vague about the plans and wait for more to commit, or do we proceed with more specifics and try to entice more to commit?

Los Serranos is fine - I've only played it once but remember liking it.  Since Brandon is in SA area, we could also consider a "reunion" to our original outing location ... Mile Square.

Also, I've refrained from mentioning it in the recent past because I feel weird asking people to come to me, but I think you guys (who haven't already played there) would really like my home course, Tijeras Creek.

Lastly, we should also keep our eyes open for underpar.com deals that keep popping up.  I just got one today, in fact, for Oak Quarry for $89 for two players.  (The downside to the underpar deals, however, is that we have to be on our toes.  This one only allows tee times 5 days in advance and only works after noon on weekends.)

That's my 37 cents.

Also, maybe consider petitioning @tristanhilton85 or @mvmac to add the date to the thread title if we're pretty well set on it.

I think going with specifics might be better, and we an adjust it if it affects people.

I'm fine with any of the courses you list.  I haven't played Tijeras Creek in a while, but I remember really liking it when I did play.  I'd certainly welcome hosting it there.  I'm also fine with the other two -- I don't think I've ever played Mile Square.

Now that the tentative date is in the subject line, maybe others can know if they can make it?  Bump.

Maybe tentatively say the course is Tijeras Creek with a mid-morning (9ish?) start?

I might be able to make it, but it depends upon when and where we go.

Morning in Mile Square or Oak Quarry are plausible. . .

Cool, we should team up again! If we go to Oak Quarry, it will be like last time, only we'll hopefully play a lot better.

I'm new to the forum but I can't think of a better way to meet and get to know folks. I'm in San Diego, but travel to the LA area all the time to see family and play with my brother. Put me down for a hell yeah, I'll play.

Also anyone up to 3 people wants to ride up together I can get 4 and clubs in my KIA. Logistics will need to be figured out.

Welcome @ol 3 putts!

Unfortunately I won't be able to make this one. I'll be in San Francisco playing in a member/guest.

Looks like we have 8 people either committed or tentatively interested in this outing/date.  Is Tijeras Creek a workable location for those interested?  FYI, it works for me.

Did I miss anybody else who was interested?

So I failed to remember (cuz im an idiot) that soccer season will be in full swing, and I also didn't know until two days ago that I'll be coaching two teams.  Unfortunately, I won't know the schedules for at least a few days, so I have no idea if any time on Saturday will work for me unless we're talking twilight. I might know the schedules in a week.

Not suggesting that you guys make any adjustments but just that I'm up in the air for now.

I'll start looking into how to get some prizes.  Worst case scenario, I'll buy something myself.  @mvmac how did you get prizes for the past ones?

Sponsors. Equipment companies. I don't know that we'd want you to BUY something unless the entries cover the cost.

You could just play a small cash game ($10 skins, $10 team play?) or something.

I'm kind of up in the air on Tijeras Creek as well as it is a really long drive and will more than likely conflict with my other commitments.

I'm sure there will be other outings I can attend in the future. . .don't change any pans on my account. . .

Like @iacas said, the prizes just came from equipment companies, no need to go buy anything.
