So if you pulled a Tin Cup and broke every club in your bag except one, or had to play a round with only one club (seeing as how I know noone on this forum would ever break a club in anger), which club would you chose to keep and play...why?  For those of you who have done this, how did it go?

I'd probably use my hybrid...hit it well off the tee, can punch it with fairly good distance control for approaches and can be used for chipping/putting as well.

There are many talented players who have played to Even Par with only One Club.
We have a One Club event in our Mens Game every season which is fun.
It is a three man scramble and each team must have one player use a 9 iron and one player use a 7 iron and the other player use a 5 iron.

I'm thinking of having the event next year where every player must use the seven iron.

The guys are going to probably hate me, HeHe......

8 iron.

I can get about 160 something + off the tee.
I can chip, punch or skull a ball.
Putting may be a challenge, but I have no shortgame with anything longer!

After scratch events at my club a few guys that like to gamble will go play one club. we will get 4-6 players and few rail birds for a 5 hole aggregate winner take all. I choose either 6i or 7i depending on the lofts of my set. it takes even par to win. Lots of fun.

We used to play lots of one club in high school and college. I've had lots of practice so I know I need about 200 off the tee but still enough loft to hit a soft cut that will stop from inside 125.

2 hybrid choking down as needed and punch shots around the green. Sand shots would be my demise but I would take my chances.

8 iron.  I hit it as good as my PW and 9 and slightly better than my 7 or 6. .and quite a bit better than my 5 on down.  Since it's the only club I'll have . .I figure I'd use the longest club I hit really well . .sadly . .that is my 8 iron.   Well . .I hit my driver pretty well, too . .but, for obvious reasons, I wouldn't pick it for my only club.

We were supposed to do a one-club challenge at the TST event in Norwalk but it rained cats and dogs. We were fortunate that things dried out enough to get the regular event in the next morning.

if i did this..... i think it would depend on the course...   but it would probably be either my anywhere from my 3 iron to 7 iron....  only issue would be if i ended up in a bunker..

It is what it is

I would pick my 5i if I could only use one.  Can hit it nice off the tee, can hit from fairway or rough, can bump n run it.  Not sure about putting as I never tried it and would have to pull a Seve if I got stuck in a sand trap.

A 7 wood for me. 170 off the tee, various yardages from the fairway,  and I can putt, chip, and pitch adequately with it.  Only thing I need to stay a way from are green side bunkers.

I have played in several one club tournaments over the years, and even won a few. My 7W was my club of choice for those contests.

It would have to be my 9i that club is my old trusted friend, it can make an accurate 150 - which on most par 4's will get me to the green with a shot at par, I would say the 8i but the shorter club just has that additional accuracy and I am confident that i could get out of a bunker with a 9 and chip with it as well.

In my bag:
Irons: TaylorMade M2,  Woods: TaylorMade M2 5 Wood , Driver: TaylorMade Aero Burner mini driver  Hybrid: Some crappy Wilson 4H Putter: Some crappy Wilson HDX putter.

You will notice that my set is heavy on the super game improvement kit, I am still awaiting the super game improvement that was promised.

Being horribly distance-impaired, I think I'd have to go with the six-iron. It's the longest club I can hit with any sort of reliability that can also function around the green on some level.

Hopefully, we'd be playing a very short course here.

A 5-iron with a really thin sole. A muscle back.

I can still hit flops with it, then.

Those adjustible head clubs are available. I have an older one that goes from a 3i to a SW. It has little rotating gears(?) for club selection. I would liken it to a 1950s 2i if you mis-hit it. Darn thing can jar the the fillings out of your teeth. That, or at the very least give the user a bad case of "terminal wristitis". Maybe even lose a few finger nails. Very, very unforgiving club. :~(

Either my 6 or 7 iron depending on which I am hitting better that day. If hitting 6 good though that's going to be the one.
