  1. 1. What's the length of the longest putt you've ever made (playing your own ball - no scrambles, etc.)?

Mine is a 110' putt, confirmed by pacing it off and by Google Earth. It was at Candywood Golf Club, in Vienna, OH.

Screen%20Shot%202016-12-17%20at%2010.41.

I pulled the ball well to the back of the green, and had a looooooooong way to go to the front right pin. I had to play it pretty close to the fringe as the little bump-in there is a little elevated, but it tracked the whole way and dropped with good pace. My playing partner was 20 feet from the pin when I hit the putt and ran up to pull it. Neither of us figured it'd go in.

A couple in the 100 foot plus range over the years.  Always a surprise that they went in.  Silly game.

I'm not exactly sure, but I'm guessing I've made at least a 30-footer so I voted for 30-50.

My "best putt ever" was a lipped-out birdie putt from 79' (according to GG) that barely popped out and stopped inches away. Argh.

The longest putt I've actually measured was about 66 feet. It came in summer of 2012 at Tamarack Country Club in Shiloh, IL, on No. 5, a 410-yd. Par 4. I pulled a drive into the left rough, and was about 210 yards from center of green. I tried my new RBZ 4H, just planning to run a draw up toward the green. I caught the ball super and it flew in and landed just short of the pin (gold arrow) and ran well past the cup.

I measured from ball mark to final resting spot of the ball, and it paced out to about 22 yards. I was measuring shots that month, trying to see if I was getting any bite on my RBZ hybrid. Answer for the summer was not really, it took off running unless I hit it off a tee.

Anyway, I pulled the pin, took a quick read and rolled the ball into center cup for a birdie 3. (Note: Line of putt is not exactly to scale; this is from memory)

I have had some 100+/- footers during my golf journey. At one point, the folks I golfed with on a regular basis said I seemed make more longer putts than the shorter ones.

The putts I am most proud of are of type with multiple breaks in them. I seemed make a lot of those too.

Mine was in a tournament last year - 15th hole at La Costa Legends, from the back fringe to a front pin, paced off afterwards by my caddy/dad at ~90 feet.  (I rounded up for the poll for vanity :))

I have little faith in my chip and running, and less in my lobbing. During the summer on short cut grass I think nothing of taking on a 40 yard putt. I have probably downed about 3 from this distance.

Christ, it's amazing I can pick the bloody thing up !!

Not officially measured or paced off but my guess was 50-60 feet.  If we played the Old Course regularly, the numbers would go up.

I just measured this on Google Earth, and it was likely just shy of 40ft (pic doesn't show the starting point). I took the pic because of the combination of the length of the putt and the way the trace stayed in the sand. As you can see, I had a couple of reads to work off of before mine! Is that cheating? :-) May not look like it, but that was a lot of sand. Some parts of some greens were quite sluggish.

I have a hit a few about this length over the past several years, but nothing drastically longer like some of you folks!

A couple of 50ish footers for me. One was in match play against a good buddy of mine when we were on a golf trip in FL. It was just when I was learning AimPoint (about a year in). Mid-point read, cross hill, big break, dead-on-balls accurate.

Honestly no idea but I can remember couple that might be something in the 40-50 ft range...

I'd say my longest was about 70 feet.  It came way back, 20 years ago (give or take) in a high school match.  I just remember it because it was a snake.  It started right to left... came back left to right... over another mount right to left... and then just at the end, it tailed off left to right again and dropped in with perfect speed.

It was for a bogey, so... yeah.

I haven't a clue. I have played for over 50 some years and made a lot of putts in that time. The only one I remember of any length was probably near 60 feet. I really don't get caught up in that type of thing on the course.

For me it's currently 2 feet, but don't ask for proof as I don't have video evidence. You will just have to take my word for it :)

Some 100 footers, wow guys..

I made a 50+ footer last summer for birdie, downhill breaking left. That was a thrill.

Here is a good question: at what distance can you no longer see the cup? I've had some really long putts where I could not physically see the cup (nobody was tending the flag). What is the practical way to approach this?

When you're playing by yourself?

Leave the flagstick in. You're probably not going to make it. Or set it down like six feet to the side and pointing at it to help you with your depth perception.

The minute I read this I laughed out loud, because it's so logical.

Thanks.
