Most Common Tee Times: Morning, Afternoon, Evening

Nigth tee time? do you mean courses with artificial ligths?? here in Argentina gets dark around 7..8pm and that´s still the afternoon.

Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun at 8 AM, Sat between 11-12, Thur is 1 PM, and I take off on Tuesday.

My play really varies.  Our tournaments typically started at 9:00am (shotgun).  With a couple of my regular golf buddies, we play both early (7am to 8am) and late (4-5pm twilight).  Several times a summer I will go out as the first player - solo.  Finally, I play a lot of rounds in the afternoon and just hook up with another single or twosome.

For my casual round, I like starting late, say 11am-noon or even later in the summer. The bulk of the traffic is gone, the dew and fog are gone and it's warmer, and also cheaper. 🙂  In tournaments, my group plays anywhere between 8 and 12 (starting time) but hardly plays in less than 5 hours, despite my incessant trying to speed things up!...

Yes, night lighting. The course we played at even provided glow-in-the-dark golf balls as a gimmik. The lighting was so strong - like in a football stadium.

That's lame. Around here the people who play early are generally fast. It's a slow round if I'm in over 3:30 with a foursome. Once I paired up with a guy who was just as fast as I was: we would have finished in under two hours walking if the ranger didn't ask us to slow down for the maintenance crew.

Same here, we call that 'drive-by golfing'. My buddies and I have become accostumed to keeping the practice swings to a minimum and we walk fast. Also, if we can't find a ball when OB then we move on quickly instead of starting a whole search and rescue mission for each lost ball.

It depends a lot on the course and the day of the week. A lot of courses here are pretty much booked solid every weekend day. It's generally a good bet to be done in 4 hours or a bit less, but not a guarantee. Except in rare cases, you're not getting done in under 3 hours.

I usually like to play in the mid-afternoon when there's a bit of a lull on the courses, at least at the ones I play at. They're usually booked solid up until noon on the weekends, and then the tee sheet is sparse until the 3:00 or 4:00 twilight golf deal starts up.

I can't vote - I play when I can. I prefer earlier, but a lot of the time I end up playing in the evening because that's when I'm done teaching for the day or something.

I'm a fan of morning golf.  Usually my course is more quiet.  I've only played a handful of evening rounds aside from men's league stuff, but usually it's not my thing.  I like to get my golf done early so I can have the rest of the day to do whatever.

When I had children at home I was an early morning golfer out of necessity, usually playing cold and waking up around the 7th hole.  As an empty nester I much prefer teeing off between 1 and 2pm after a relaxing breakfast/brunch with my wife, an hour or so for an unhurried warm up, and play the last few holes as the weather starts to soften and the wind (usually subsides).  Most afternoon rounds at my course are under 3.5 hours. Plenty of time to get home for a single malt(s) and a cigar and if he weather is good a barbecue.

It all depends on the schedule and weather, but I prefer afternoons. I like to tee off around noon after having a good lunch. This way I can drink a couple beers on the back nine without feeling guilty that it's 10:30am. Or, instead, stop at a watering hole after golf to have a couple with my partners at an appropriate drinking hour. Also gives me time in the morning to get errands or other necessary things finished. 

Now when I'm in Myrtle during the summer, I'm playing early morning. Like 730 or 800. Because 94 and humid gets rough midday. 

EDIT--Also, my home course offers discounts starting at noon and a further discount at 2pm. So sometimes we play later just to save $8-15. If it doesn't matter to anyone's schedule.

I prefer to be one of the first groups off the tee.  That way, I don't have to wait for my shots, get done early, and have a rest of the day to do other work.

Of course, during mid/late autumn, winter and early spring, it means frost delays which can delay the tee time for an hour or two.

Right now, I don't have to worry about frost delay, because of the damn snow!!!  All the courses are closed!
