I missed the lottery for this. Although it's only for one day, guessing your chances were better to get lucky in getting these tickets?

Not sure how reliable ticket sales on Let go or craigslist are but you can get tickets to the event on Saturday for a couple hundred. Might be worth it just to see the course even if your not a fan of women's' amateur golf.

My bag:

I'm going to DVR the final round. I'm really curious to see how the women play this course. They're be playing from where us mortals would play from, and that's really interesting to me. Not sure I'll ever get around to watching much of it, but I am curious.

My guess is that more of these women will lay up on #13 and #15 than do the men so we will get to see what we would do when we get the invite.

I have only entered the lottery for the Masters the last 2 years, but have not been drawn. I was drawn for the ANWA, and will be there on Saturday. My guess is far less people entered for this tourney, especially being the inaugural, but who knows. I am mainly going to see the course for the first time, but will hopefully enjoy watching some of the women play as well.

Oh my. I can’t imagine how many tendons and ligaments I’d rupture if I tried that.

To the topic of the music, only time will tell. But It certainly won’t be as iconic as the the Masters music.

However, as much of a traditionalist as I am, it’s great that the National is doing this. I’d love to have footage of the ladies on the first tee on Friday.

I’ve been fortunate enough to drive down Magnolia Lane and stand on the first tee.

Kind of surprised this didn't show up here. I was interested in it from the get go, but became more interested when I found out a local lady was in contention to make the field. Her name is Haylee Harford, and she is now a Senior at Furman, and quite a fine golfer. She finished tied for 11th at Champions Retreat, which is the qualifier, with the top 30 making the field for Augusta. i look forward to seeing her on TV tomorrow!

Uhm… :P

And, yep, we know Haylee. Taught her while she was still in high school. We had both the D1 and D2 individual women's golfers that year for Ohio (D1 was Niki, who is a senior at Ohio State right now).

I just learned that one of the girls from my club is playing in this, and made it to today’s round at Augusta!

Sierra Brooks.  Very cool.

They are only playing 1 round at AGNC, and it is today (though they did get a practice round yesterday)

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
