My course just got some new one-person golf carts called Finn Cycles. My sons and I took them for a spin during a demo but have not yet played an entire round on them. Have you any of you tried them out? i cant find any reviews on here. I demoed a golf board once a while back but found it very hard to turn. the sales rep made it look like a lot of fun. I remember the Segway way back when. I am curious if any of these one rider options will stick. I liked Finn. It was easy to ride. even the most timid at the demo event were all smiles within seconds. I'll vote 'yea'. how about you?

I’m wondering if a real ‘hilly’ course with morning dew might spell disaster?

There was some talk about these scooter gizmos at my home course. Sun Mtn was offering them up as a better way to play ready golf, and speed up play.

Last I heard the decision was still being made, but was not promising due to up front costs, and the extra liability the course owners would have to take on.

Personally I like the idea.

In Michigan, those over 21 can waive the helmet law if you pay the $100 fee.    Without the waiver, everyone wears a helmet

So, if you pay a $100 fee you can ride the golf scooter without a helmet?

I'm sure that will quicken the adoption of these in Michigan.

this whole helmet thing got me curious especially considering all of those e-scooters popping up in big cities and no one wearing a helmet. i was told that helmet laws will not apply to these golf e-bikes because they are for off-road use only.

Don’t see it happening. Two golf carts on a hole just less a mess than 4 scooters making the course look like a Hell’s Angels convention.

If the cart goes back and forth a lot between the two players' balls then I could see 4 scooters being less wear and tear, and likely less fairway crossing by the vehicles in general.

It entirely depends on whether the course permits you to ride/drive anywhere or on a designated cart path only.  If designated cart path only, a cart takes the same amount of time assuming you drop a player off and move ahead to your ball.  If you wait for one player to hit, then come back and both of you go to hit the second person's ball, god bless us all.  That is how you get 6 hour rounds on an empty course.

The other concern with any scooter/balance board type golf vehicle is the risk that somebody will fall and injure themselves.  It is possible, though a lot harder in a cart.

Overall, I have to say not a big fan of the bike option.  I walk and pull/push my bag.

I think it will vary by state.

It looks like some states require the vehicle to have pedals to be defined as a moped; others the engine size; others the top speed.

A few states mentioned exemptions for off-road use, others didn't. I'm assuming if there isn't an explicit exemption for off-road use, the law applies to off road use.

I think that when you reduce the number of wheels from 4 to 2, you increase the margin for error. They look like fun, but they look like they could be an accident waiting to happen.

I always need the extra set of eyes in the cart with me to find my all, LOL.

Also, as stated above, hilly course, morning dew or rain, not a good combination. Plus the helmet laws if they apply to off road use??

Poll added.

I'd ride it; it looks like fun. Like @tri-golf, I have tried the Golf Board and was disappointed that it didn't handle as well as I wanted it to.

Okay, So my neighbor and I went and played 18 holes riding Finn Cycles.
I have to say they are awesome!

We had a blast! We've both decided that it should be the only way to play golf. No more carts only Finn Cycles!

Here's a few clips of us enjoying our time between golf shots. I stuck them together into a little video montage. Enjoy.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

They sure look like a lot of fun, but if I may make a suggestion, perhaps a different choice of music? Maybe try this song:

    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
