Out of curiosity, have you ever tried playing with a wedge that had a lot of bounce?

Just play your bunker shots like Reed and you shouldn’t have a problem.😉

Yes, I am currently playing an 60* MD3 with 10* of bounce. I ordered the XLow 3* mostly because of the grind. I do all kinds of crazy stuff with opening and closing my 60* so having a very shallow grind is very important to me. Also I hit really well in all the situations I put it through during my fitting.

3* of bounce can't be harder to learn than flying a 400+ hp super-light biplane w/highly modified control surfaces I reckon

I agree... I can hit a 60* with 3* of bounce and I can't even fly a kite.

Watched an Arnold Palmer vid the other day. He said amature golfers are better off chipping and running, than attempting to throw the ball up in the air.

I tend to agree generally, but unfortunately there are things like bunkers, water, and trees that get in the way. Having a club in the bag that can get over something and stop quick is valuable. I rarely use my 58 degree wedge but it is always in the bag. I could go 5 rounds without using it, but if I short side myself really badly I play it.

Of course, and I'm the same. However, if don't have any obstacles to get over, it's always an 8 iron chip and run !

My go to club around the green is a PW unless I need to hit a shot out of the bunker or need to loft it.  In that case it is SW (high bounce) or LW (low bounce) depending on the surface.  I am comfortable with either club and bounce or lack of it doesn't affect me, unless I play the wrong club

Some of my best shots on the GC have come with my Cleveland RTX 60.08 .. my go too many times in the bunker or over trees right by the green.. not a tight lie fairway but out of the rough its be brilliant at times ...

But the shaft does have a dent as sometimes I just stink with it ... but that can't happen with any of my wedges

My go to wedge is my 54/10 S-grind. I use it for about everything inside 80 yds. I don't carry a 5W so I carry two 58 wedges. One 58/8 C-grind which I can lay almost flat in firm conditions, and a 58/10 S-grind for softer conditions.

They say amateur golfers are better off chipping and running, but I'm better at flying the ball to a landing zone, unless I can use my putter. The cavity back GI irons just don't have the feel for short game stuff.

My go to wedge around the greens is a 60.08 vokey. Now I bought a new set of wedges with the 60 being .08 as well but the 56 is a .10. I bought them used so I couldn’t order anything specific. But from how I play I’d rather even have a lower bounce on the 60 itself. On hard pans it might bounce too much and make you blade it because of that. 
 

On the other hand I saw last season that an 8 iron bump and run gets me closer to the hole. I’ve practiced enough with the 60 that I’m not afraid I’ll chunk it, but the 8 iron is now my go to chipping club if I don’t need to carry an obstacle.

The only reason for using a 60 degree wedge around the green is if you are short-sided with rough or have to go over a bunker with the pin close to the bunker.

The idea that every shot around the green has to go high is a common one amongst players who score poorly around the green.

Over the past few months I have been chipping with an 8 iron with my putting grip if I can and I have been really pleased with the results. It gets a little bit of bite and the rollout is easy to control because it's just like  a putt.

I agree with you about height and have used this method. We have a thread about it.

Lately, I’ve worked on just one chipping motion and varying the club depending on the distance, carry I need, etc.

      Can't tell 100% from your videos but if your right hand is too far underneath the grip the tendency for most folks is to roll it close through impact little too early. Try putting your right (trail) hand more on the side of the grip instead of underneath at address for a simple enough adjustment. This might help. In general match-ups matter greatly and you might have to make corresponding changes. I wouldn't even begin to suggest whatever those might be. Best to get a good pro to help. Self-diagnosis/experimentation can work for some but for most it's a rabbit hole.

      Been away for a few weeks. A bit of tumultuous times at work. We had about 4% our exempt workforce laid off. My project from hell won’t let up. Just been burnt out the past couple of weeks and the cold crappy weather. Back at it now. Backswing drill - working on swing path feels. Right wrist bent, more feeling the palm facing away from me. Feeling the hands stay in front of me more.  Downswing- Feel like I make a big long arc with the butt end of the club to my right pocket. More out away from my shoulder. Combining this with recentering for timing. When I make a 60% swing, the clubhead feels like it’s arching from the inside and lower way more.

      Its tough, "greatest" is subjective, measured in many different ways, while goals and assists are simple numbers.  And even simple numbers aren't always directly comparable across eras, as you mention.  A truly amazing coincidence, if Ovi scores 2 goals in the next 2 games, he'll have exactly the same number as Gretzky (894), in exactly the same number of games (1487).
