Not surprising at all considering neither have a place on a Golf forum. I see this thread probably headed in that same direction pretty soon. It's kinda played out really.

As long as there is Covid-19 I think this thread will continue, in all its mutations...

TRUCKER too, shall pass.

It was set up for information sharing so we could discuss what was going on in our areas. Some like to delve into unsubstantiated opinions, but for the most part, it has been a good thread.

Differing opinions are fine with me. I'm starting to see certain members being singled out and pilloried however. I'm not fine with that. But, earlier on I'm sure that it was a great read.

In general, like any other, this forum is filled by folks who like to express their opinions publicly (which is why they write) and discuss various topics. When someone makes claims/comments which don't seem to be true, they are asked to support their opinions/claims with facts. It is the folks who continue to insist their position is correct in the absence providing any evidence that to support their position that find themselves receiving criticism. In essence, they want to insist their position is correct because its their opinion...and that's not going to fly around here. No one is forced to participate, but if someone chooses to voluntarily discuss/debate an issue despite having no objective data/support, they are subjecting themselves to the expected criticism of their arguments.  It is their arguments, or lack thereof, that are the target of criticism and that is to be expected in a forum.

If it worked for 13 months, it’s not going to “head in that same direction” now.

No, you’re not. If you’re talking about @TRUCKER, he singled himself out by breaching the forum rules and making stupid posts. Just as we allow him to say those dumb things, we allow others to refute those things. His initial post(s) did more “pillorying” than any of the responses. The responses don’t need to pillory - they have facts on their side.

Let me ask you this, @Frank F: what did either of these posts do to further the actual topic of discussion?

My posts here does almost nothing to talk about the topic. It’s meta. But, as a moderator/admin, I occasionally have to make a post like this.

You do not.

Interesting take.
First off: You call me a sheep again and there will be problems. If you want to call me a sheep, please do so to my face. And when doing so you better be damned good and ready to answer politely when I ask you explain why you think so.

Second off: If you are looking for somebody to support you on keeping the economy rolling, I'm your guy. I drive around the state and talk to people for a living. I haven't quit working and I don't expect to. I don't want anyone to stop working and I want the economy to be able to move along.

I agree with you. We should keep working. We should keep supporting our businesses. I also drink plenty of truck-stop coffee. Having said that 1/2 Million Americans have died. That's scary for a lot of people. ... So ... Why not wear a mask?

I wear a mask because it allows me to do my job. Every business I visit without exception, expects and demands that I wear a mask. It's a very small price to pay to make people comfortable around you, and to keep doing my job.

When I go to a public place I wear a mask. WHY? NOT BECAUSE I'M A f***ING SHEEP!! but because it makes people comfortable around me. People are scared. Many have died, many more have truly suffered. My next door neighbor, was 67, he died Friday. I went over to express my condolences to his wife... widow. Everyone in her house was wearing a mask. Should I have gone over and NOT worn mine. Should I have told them they are all sheep? Of course not.

People are afraid, worried or at best uncertain. Wearing a mask makes them less afraid. Wearing a mask is just not that big of a deal. I have several that are perfectly comfortable. I truly believe it helps. If you don't, that's fine. Wear one anyway. Otherwise you are just being rude to people who are legitimately at risk or are afraid for themselves or their loved ones.

I appreciate the freedoms we have here in the US. I appreciate your it's your right not to have to wear a mask stance. I do. I really really do. But wear one anyway. Don't be that guy. What if you one day found out you didn't wear a mask and then it turns out you killed a dozen people by passing it on to them? The scary thing about this virus is many people get it and never ever know it.

Again, I don't know if masks work or don't work. I don't know shit about this f-ing virus. I do know that a lot of people have been very sick and I do know a lot of people have died, including my next door neighbor. I also know if I wear my mask people are more comfortable around me. So, why not wear a mask?

I'd like to apologize for my above post. which I typed while pissed off this morning.

I typed this when I was just getting ready to run out and see a customer. As I was driving around I had time to reflect a bit. I typed my post right after reading all the recent posts on this thread. I should have taken a moment or two to calm down.

My neighbor (a really good family man) truly did die on Friday. He is (was) the owner of a trucking company. I let my emotions get the best of me. I typed this while I was in a pissy mood. So, I came across a touch heavy handed and for that I apologize.

Word to the wise. Don't post online while you are upset. My bad.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled posts.

I've been reading this off and on for a while and just shaking my head. While all you 🐑 have been wearing your masks, staying home, preaching about "the science," taking shots of a poisonous vaccine, patting each other on the back for how obedient you've been, trying to one up each other on who got there shot first. I never stayed home. I've been to truck stops all over the country for fueling, showers, eating inside restaurants, eating salads prepared by the truck stop, filling my coffee mugs, getting maintenance work done, to shippers, receivers, dot inspection stations, rest areas, casino's, etc. etc. the list go's on. No mask, no nothing. Grow a pair and think for yourselves.

There is a lot wrong with your post, sort of like a 'spring breaker' type attitude, "if it feels good do it". The problem with that is that is is a statement that tosses out all common sense in order to enjoy what satisfies yourself. Many dare devils exist like that until they hurt or kill themselves. These things do work: Social distancing, wearing masks, getting the vaccine, common sense. I will say this, I appreciate people like you who keep the economy working, providing services and goods for others to exist. Without service type people working we wouldn't just be lacking toilet paper and hand cleaner, but all the food and goods that let us survive. Thank you! While I disagree with much of your post, if you wanted to be ganged up on, you have come to the right place, they do it well here. I really believe you have more sense than your OP, everybody does, but I hope you reconsider before you end up on the statistic page.

Ohio cases are beginning to go up again. According to Gov. this is mostly along the MI border. Thanks Michigan. We should have built a wall.

Michigan 7 day average is 5663!   Hospitals are close to capacity again with Covid patients.    Damn those people up north!

My wife gets her first shot today! My son on Monday. He’s essential because he’s a beer distributor sales rep.😜 I got mine moved up to next Thursday.

Which border, the real one or the revised border after you stole the Toledo Strip from us? Maybe if you just give us our land back the infected border area will be in MI again. Just sayin'  😉

    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
