Today already looks tough. 15mph winds and greens look really quick and firmer. We may still see a +8 winner

Wind is supposed to die down throughout the day but not sure it matters. Greens are getting brown and very fast. Gonna be a battle today regardless of wind.

I think there will be some separation today. I think a couple of the guys at the top will hang around -2 or -3 while most of the others go south. Tends to happen on tough courses.

I hope they're keeping a real close eye on Cheatin' Fatrick with this deep rough that he doesn't get a magically improving lie...

That low left drive that maxed at 48 feet in height by Thomas on 2 I am so familiar with.

The weather and wind seem to be keeping De Chambeau from the mammoth 350 yard drives he made in the heat of summer.

Careful.  I think the Chicago Cubs might have that phrase registered as a trademark.

Guess Wolff saw Morikawa win and said I need to get going. I always said a Morikawa-Wolff rivalry is the next thing in golf. Two very contrasting styles but similarly great games.

OK, DeChambeau made me eat my words.

It’ll be interesting if it comes down to DeChambeau / Wolff in the end.

Reed is not well liked but it’s cool watching a guy who can’t overpower a course find a way to score.

I noticed a few mistakes by announcers with player scores. A couple off center camera shots because mistimed cutaways.

Is anyone remote announcing on this telecast?

The leaderboard graphic has a slider on the right. Nifty.

I chip around my back yard everyday. When  my grass gets a bit on the longer side I struggle to keep the ball from moving when I come even close to grounding my club, and my yard is nowhere near as lush as at the open. Shocked these players don’t cause the ball to move more often in this rough, especially how close the club seems to get the ball at address. They must not get as close as it looks.

If he wins I’m gonna enjoy those salty tears of yours.  If he doesn’t, so be it.  I don’t hold 7 year grudges on young athletes who display a little overconfidence, even if it comes out as cocky.

Can't believe I am saying this but feeling for Reed at the moment. Doods unraveling it seems.

Wolff winning this rough consistently is crazy good. Wow.

A lot of guys missing the fairway bypassing driver going with iron.

If it’s Wolff - DeChambeau, final pair with not “typical” looking swings is cool.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
