  1. 1. What does wearing a white belt while playing golf say about you?

    • I swing so fast, the vortex created by my arms pulled all the dye color out of my belt.

    • I only wear white to match the white sox I wear with my golf sandals.

After seeing Sandy Lyle wear suspenders at the Masters, I feel that gives everybody a free pass to wear any color belt they want.

If you have won the Masters and are old enough to collect social security, you get a pass.

Everybody else, not so much…

I am not a psychologist but I have encountered enough, on television and in print, to offer an opinion on the subject.  Wearing a white belt can indicate several things...or not.  It really depends on the circumstances surrounding the individual.

1)  It could be a part of a uniform.  The guy cops on television shows based in the tropics often wear white belts and might, without really thinking about it, wear the same belts when they hit the links.

2)  The white belt could be a gift.  As such...one might feel obligated to wear it once in a while.

3)  One may have grown up when wearing white belts was normal (along with white shoes) and thus think nothing of it.

4)  It may be one of the few belts one owns.  I own two...one tan and one red.  If I owned a white belt I would probably wear it from time to time.

5)  Or it could be a twisted cry for help.  Although it would be more efficient to simply ask for help...we do not always think clearly when distressed.

6)  Lastly...it is possible that some people like white belts.  There is, after all, no accounting for taste.

White belts should have died with apple hats, plaid pants and the rest of those hideous 70's fashions. (But keep the ladies hip huggers and halter tops)

No white belts for me - not that trendy. I answered accordingly that I’m a slob and can’t pull it off

And when you win a hole slip that thing out of your belt loops and snap it at the putt you just made... that'll really get into your opponent's head.

I wear a white belt if I am wearing white shoes occasionally. I tend to match shoes and belts. Most of the time my shirt isn't tucked in so no one would see it anyway. I don't really care what people think about it but@Piz
I see a lot worse clothes worn on a regular basis on the golf course. Guys wearing jeans, corduroy pants, golf sweat shirts from 1981 and pleated pants! Pleated pants should be banned and burned in every capacity. People make a big deal about a white belt and there's million worse atrocities on the golf course.

Hey, I wear corduroy pants in very cold weather!  Though never wear them in the rain... they can gain up to 30 pounds!  And don't worry about the white belts... they'll be trending back in in 20 years.  And I'll be able to wear my double-breasted suit again, too.

Don't worry, I'll feel ashamed for you.😁 Well I just let you know corduroy is not okay. You're welcome 👍

But Valley, I am a fashion maven...

Clearly. You should get a matching jacket with elbow patches too.

    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
