I added the tough (for me) #8: 450 yards straight, downhill: it was good drive for about 260, followed by a 5 wood 20 ft above the pin. I rolled the putt in with a slight double-break. Seems easy enough, but I didn't birdie it last year...  Only 3 left now. 2 of those are pretty hard but I am not sure why I haven't gotten the other (a 192 yards par 3) as I am usually on the green or real close.

Birdie on #7. Already have that hole for this year, so it didn’t count for the challenge.

Did contribute to my low score for the year, though, so it’s much appreciated.

I need to check on holes 4, 6, 11, and 15 later.

Ooh I get to add 15. Sweet.

Missed a 4' putt that would have finished off the back 9 at my most oft played course. There are two holes on the front that will most likely elude me the rest of the season, they just give me fits trying to hit them in regulation, and one is only 385 yards.... the other is a slightly uphill 429, but they are best approached with a good draw to avoid intruding trees, I aim right, they either go dead straight or draw much too early and hit the damn trees anyhow.

I manage to get #9 today: a straight par 4, 420 yards, lined by trees on both sides, with a somewhat sloped green but no bunkers. I had a good drive, about 240-245y, in the middle, then a 4 hybrid from 177y that went just a bit behind the hole and left, and made the slightly downhill slider 15 foot putt, dead center. Again, it seems easy when said that way, but I didn't get that one last year, either... Only 2 left now, including that par 3, #2:  I was on the green pin high today but couldn't convert.

For mere mortais, any birdie beyond a mid iron is a cause for celebration.

This is very true.  On those rare occasions I have made birdie off of a long iron, hybrid, or wood, it has been at least one fortuitous circumstance coupled with good shots.

My stupid game has taken on a really frustrating pattern of pars and blow-up holes.  Not getting birdies or bogeys any more.

Not looking good this year.

True. Also for hackers and duffers (and mere mortal hackers and duffers), any birdie is a cause for celebration. 🙂

Perhaps I have graduated from being a duffer, as I am averaging 2 birdies per round in the last 8 rounds (including 2 rounds with no birdies at all). Still, adding to that spreadsheet at this point is no trivial task.

All I had to do was post that and of course in the next round, I did make that birdie, with a very nice 5 wood from 198 yards, to the back pin, inside of 3 feet. Easy putt. 😉

Only one left now, the hardest hole on the course, but no matter, I already won as my ringer score is now -18 (I also had one eagle in the season), for a smooth 52 (par 70)!

Added #9 (par-3). Normally 180yds, but the tees were moved up today. Hit the green and got lucky on the putt.

I had 4 birdies on wednesday, highest ever birdie total in one round, 2 were new to the challenge and actually my first time to ever birdie them. 👍

I was happy to pick up a few birdies (5 total, not counting the Sandbox) out in Wisconsin this week, but all were duplicates.

I added a few to my composite course and have only hole #9 left there.

After taking some time with a birdie drought, I finally am seeing some results today. After a bogey-bogey start, I birdied 7 (par 5), 12 (4), and 14 (5). A pair of doubles mixed in and a 77 followed.  During the afternoon 9, I started birdie (5), birdie (4), to finally knock of #2 and a smooth 37.

The only birdie left is #16 and I will have my home course finally done. For some reason this is always the last hole for me every year. I did come close a few times and even had an OB "birdie" (3 off the tee for a bogey). Its to the point when I do finally birdie it I will probably throw my hat in the air like I won the US Open.

    • Tiger’s walking at the PNC and people say he’s not limping.
    • I haven't heard much of anything about it. Faux leather, sure. Biodegradable leather? No. No idea. You're a bit too new, still, to post links.
    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
