OK, I'm old, a lot of my favorites are from decades ago.  Last night I saw the Stray Cats on their 40th reunion tour.  Had a great time, a bit of a sing-a-long, and lots of loud rockin'.

I was also pretty impressed with the opening act, James Hunter.  He played with just an upright bass player as his accompaniment, but his playing was strong, his singing was soulful, with a nice variety of tempos and styles.  I'd go just to see him again, if he was playing someplace nearby.

Stumbled onto this song the other day:

And that eventually led me to discover this band:

Usually on Friday/Saturday nights we frequent a bar, or two, that has live music. The music is usually "cover music" by some obscure band, or single musician. Sometimes the single musician has a young, good looking piece of eye candy as part of his show.

Tonight we stopped at some out of the way Denny's Diner for dinner that was attached to a bar.

There was a live music show going on in the bar section. At one pount the guy started playing Allen Parson's "Sirius-Eye In The Sky" song. Some of you readers may not know the Sirius song by name, but I guarantee you have heard it.

The musician, and eye candy, (with great legs)  played other 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s classic rock songs. Well, they were classic to us anyways..

One song he played "Running Down A Dream" hooked us into staying for his whole show. We ate our Denny's meal in the bar.

He covered alot of our favorite songs including stuff by BTO, AC/DC, Scorpions, The Outfield, REM, Wilburys, and many others. I even talked him into doing "Amarillo By Morning", and "Poncho & Lefty". There was a sizeable tip involved for those two songs.

It was a really good "cover" show.

My point is, always look for these out of the way places. You never know what king of talent you might find.

    • Day 619 - 2026-06-13 Light day as I had a player win his second consecutive EDGA Match Play. Got some work in before some lessons, then headed up to watch him get his hardware. https://www.instagram.com/iacas/p/DZi5LyUiSwA/
    • Day 13 (13 Jun 26) - Continued work with 7i, hard foam balls and getting consistent impact - spent half the drill using the ball box as a gate to battle coming over the top , other half with no gate - rather practice the setup and execution without assistance.
    • Despite playing poorly today, I did birdie a hole 12.  A great drive (not distance wise, just stayed where I wanted it to) and then a pretty good 4-wood left me 60 yards to a pin tucked way right over a bunker.  Despite being within the range at which I am allowed to go for the pin, I instead aimed away from the bunker and focused on GIR.  A 27' downhill putt that I estimated at three fingers of break awaited me, which I sank.   I have to admit, this is not where I thought I'd make hole-12-birdie this year.
    • Day 40, June 13.  Played 18 today at a new-to-me course.  It did not go well, largely due to how compact the course was and unfamiliarity.
    • Day 78: played 18. Shot 80. Driving was solid, iron play meh, short game decent, putting okay.
