And now we see why match play is a dud for television.  This format only determines the best player on a single day or for a single round, and these guys are matched closely enough that on any given day, anyone can beat anyone.  I predict that this tournament will go the way of the dodo bird in the not so distant future.  Sponsors paying millions aren't going to keep putting up money to see the top two players in the world play one losing round of golf.

When Tiger and Rory both lost in the first round, the simultaneous click of millions of TV's being turned off simultaneously almost set of a tsunami.

I know it would make the tournament longer, but I have always wished they would make it double elimination.  Or at least have a way for the guys who lose on the first day a chance to battle back into this thing somehow.  This format definitely makes you bring your "A" game.

I don't doubt it makes it less interesting for the fringe fans or LCD but I'm more interested if anything. More surprising than Rory and Tiger being one and done is all the other big names that lost today. I didn't play in this fantasy challenge but I picked Oosthuizen and BVP to meet in the final so I'm hanging in to the end to see how it shakes out. I'm ready for the the feel good story, a win by Henley, Oleson, BVP or Sterne. But yeah certainly not something the sponsors want to see.

      I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

      If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
