As for his longevity, if Vijay Singh won 22 of his 34 PGA tour victories (including the 2004 PGA) after turning 40, and Phil won the US Open in 2013 at age 43, then there is a lot of time for Tiger to get 19 majors and 100 PGA victories.

Phil wishes.....

I voted one but my guess is it really depends on who steps up. It's just 4 tournaments and I think Kuchar and Phil are good for one each. Stenson looks poised for 2014 dominance. There's a lot of hungry guys in the top 15.

How would anyone know? They don't.

What is the point of having a guess?

What will be just as irritating is when in 9 months' time, people link to this thread saying that they were right.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

We've done a lot to tolerate your profound grumpiness, but you're turning into a caricature of yourself at this point.

When you manage to make a post that isn't dismissive, you have a lot of good things to say that help people or further the discussion. The above is not an example of that.

My mind says 0, but my heart says 1.  IMO the Masters will always be his best chance to win, because it's the tournament that doesn't require every facet of his game be on point.  And it just seems like the majors have been tough on him having all aspects of his game together at the same time.

Early in the season the last couple years he has appeared to be in good form, focused and capable.  Last year I really thought he was on his way to walking away with the Masters until he hit the flagstick.  Maybe this year will be the year?

Tiger definitely always has a good shot there. The only issue is having to hit driver a lot, which is why I think his best shot this year is Hoylake.

Either way I think those are his two best opportunities, and I think he will get one of them. Anybody who contends as often as he does can't help but nab one, whether he takes it with authority or is gifted one by leaders collapsing. I could totally see Tiger finishing 2 or 3 back an hour before leaders like Westy or Donald hit 18...Woods would have a giftwrapped major fall right in his lap.

I had to look this up. According to Oddchecker.com, the odds for Tiger Woods winning exactly two majors is 9/1.

My prediction is that he won't win only one major next season. I think 2014 is the make-or-break year for Tiger Woods in major championships; he's had success at each of the venues on next year's calendar. If he can't win any of the four events, then he becomes like late-80s Watson or mid-90s Norman, a player who is done winning majors even if he is the best on tour week-by-week. I feel that a victory, on the other hand, begins another run of major wins like 99-02 and 05-08, and that would get Tiger to Jack's record. If Tiger wins any of the first three majors, I'd give him the PGA as well.

Excellent post.  Got to say I completely agree.  He isn't far away from winning a Major IMO, but I think 2014 is very pivotal for him moving forward and I'm 100% certain that McIlroy will move forward in 2014 and challenge for Majors again.

I think the best thing that could happen to Tiger is to not win a major for the next few years ... at that point, when he gets into his early 40's people will lay off him about it & the pressure to win majors will subside somewhat ... then WATCH OUT !!

It's Tiger Woods, how could anyone say zero?  I said 1, but I'm saying at least one!  Like others have mentioned if he gets one of the first two, look out!!!  I think ultimately, he gets to at least 19 and 100 wins by the time it's all said and done!

There will never be another Jack or Tiger again! No one will dominate like these guys did.  The field is too tough and these guys are now finely tuned machines.   So just sit back and enjoy it while we can!

How could anyone say 0? Simple: how many majors did Tiger win in 2009? 0. 2010? 0. 2011? 0. 2012? 0. 2013? 0.
