Not sure I would say golf is in a "better" place now. I do think it's in a "good" place, but it needs Spieth, Rory and Day to keep playing well, in particular Spieth. He has the ability to bring people to the TV. As for those who say they don't watch golf anymore because Tiger doesn't play, cry me a freaking river.

Prob the same model irons, but I'm pretty sure his driver and 3-w were Titleist. 975j, IIRC.

No, I think Tiger pretty famously held onto his Titleist PT for a long long time.

Tiger Woods will "absolutely" be back on the golf course this season, according to an ESPN report quoting his agent, Mark Steinberg....

Tiger is done. Put a fork in him. Once your back is gone so is your game.  Especially if you swing like tiger did.

Maybe, but Jack had numerous back issues before winning the '86 Masters.

Not sure if the embed will start at 4:08, but looking at his driver swing, that doesn't look like a 975. Here's the link if it doesn't start at 4:08.

Rosaforte - Woods hitting drivers at full speed today. Rosaforte is usually on the money, but I'll wait until the video comes out.

I have watched Eldrick since his rookie year. For me, with Day, Fowler, Johnson, Jordan, Rory, Reed, Adam. The list goes on and on. The PGA Tour is more exciting to watch than it has ever been . I don't miss Tiggs at all.

Wow, that's surprising considering how many positive Tiger Woods posts you've made since you've joined. Very out of character for you.

Doesn't hurt just means you've made it clear you're not a Tiger fan so we'd expect nothing less than more negative comments about Tiger from you.

I have it in my mind that he should and would be out the entire year.  I wonder if this maybe is a bit too early?  He's got a tremendous medical / fitness team around him so I'm sure they are instructing / clearing him to do this and that team knows way more than me and most of us on this forums so how can I or anyone say it's too early.  I just hope It isn't and well, would have voted to take all of 2016 off.  We will see what happens I guess and I hope this time he's right because if he has another injury and they have to cut into that back again for a 4th time, his career (and maybe worst) will more than likely be done.

Funny thing is, there are a lot of big sports guys that I am not a fan of.  Yet I do not feel a deep rooted need to criticize them at every opportunity, examine their personal lives closely, condemn them for behavior that is (sadly) rampant, downplay their achievements, or anything like it.

These guys have been around longer than TST.  I remember the old rec.sports.golf newsgroup back when Tiger first came out and the Golf Channel boards.  The absolute worst are those who CLAIM they were Tiger fans until his personal issues emerged and then turned virulently against him on self-righteous moral grounds while continuing to revere old hound dogs like Arnold and Tom.

    • I enjoyed the distance wedges episode. It's something that I've not really taken the time to figure out for sure, but I went to a local trackman place over the winter and tested my four wedges (PW, AW, 54, 58) and got four yardages with each one. I am using Dan Grieve's method - you have a 1, 2, 3, and "full". The number references the number of clubhead widths between your heels.  I never really got to grips with the clock method - I'd find my 9:00 one day would go 40 yards and the next day 60 yards purely based on how fast I happened to swing it, but I couldn't turn that off and I was basically at sea with the speed method (Wesley Bryan does this - he takes almost a full swing for a 15 yard chip). The Grieve method I set my stance width and that really limits how much my swing moves back and forth and the speed seems to be naturally more consistent.  Anyway, I wound up with four yardages for each club - PW 48, 80, 112, 127; AW 41, 73, 101, 112; 54 36, 57, 91, 98; 58 28, 47, 81, 86 So, in order, I have 28, 36, 41, 47, 48, 57, 73, 80, 81, 86, 91, 98, 101, 112, 112, 127 which gives me a pretty good set of numbers. I do have a big gap from 57 to 73, but I can do a 2.5 58, which is giving me about 64. Then as they noted you can give it a bit more, or grip down on a club too to adjust a little bit. It's really useful and very freeing to just know what to do. When you have a 54 yard pitch, rather than pulling my 58 and thinking how hard is 54, I can just take my 54, do a "2" swing and just grip down a little and I'm in decent shape.  Incidentally, Erik talked a bit about watching Scheffler picking off his yardages to within a yard. I've watched DJ do that too with his wedges. Scottie does it trying to hit it all the way up to like 200 exactly with a 6-iron and he's hitting it 200.5, 199.7, etc. Absolutely mind blowing how good his distance control is. Insane.
