Since playing some golf and seeing how trim @NCGolfer is looking, I'm doing a mini-keto diet. Since Saturday I've limited my carbs from sugars (I don't count fiber carbs, though those are pretty minimal anyway) to under 40g per day.

I'm not going crazy. I've gotten two sausage egg mcmuffins twice, without the muffins. I've had some grilled beef, some green beans, some steak bites (only six, which is about 28g). I've had some cheeses, some eggs. I cooked some chicken breasts in little bite-sized pieces with Frank's Red Hot/butter.

I've had a small snack every night. Tonight it's a little dark chocolate.

I'm eating less, too. Mostly because we don't have much low-carb stuff in my house. My wife and kid are making fun of me. 😛 I bought some sausage for the morning. Some ground beef. We'll see. Maybe I'll be trimmer in a few months.

I promise to stop pestering @NCGolfer soon, too. 🙂

Most people have to find what carb level works for them. I feel better with lower carbs. I don't buy snack stuff with carbs or high in sugar anyways. It is pretty easy for me to maintain a lower carb limit.

Made Carbonara as authentic as I could. One of my favorite pasta dishes.

Yum! What meat did you use? I made it first time a year or two back and that was something else. Delicious!

I've tried both pancetta and guanciale, but prefer pancetta. Guanciale is maybe even more authentic, but it became too much fat for me. Pancetta has a great distribution of meat and fat. I think I've tried both pecorino and parmesan/parmigiano, but can't recall which I preferred.

Pancetta. I can’t find guanciale. Bacon is a bit to strong flavor for the dish. It’s an ok sub.

I am actually about to start trying to trim up too. I had good success last time with just counting calories. I have tried almost all diets and have had success with all of them. Counting calories works better with my lifestyle than most other diets. I liked Keto as well.

I have been walking daily and started off with just a bit and have now pushed it up to about 10km a day.  The problem is I am not consistent with it.  When walking and watching my diet have lost some weight, and more importantly trimmed down.  Need to push myself to do that regularly.

WRT to food, am just reducing the amount I eat rather than following any specific diet.  Hope I can manage it on a long term basis

I'm up to four weeks and two days of having done this now. I'm thinner, and I've lost weight, but I have no idea how much because I didn't weigh myself before and I haven't weighed myself since or recently.

I've definitely kept under 50g of carbs every day, and most days are at or just under 40.

I got some "keto" Greek yogurt today that's pretty good.

And I did stop bugging @NCGolfer about it.

P.S. A few people have asked me if I've lost weight. My pants are looser, even though my waist has always been pretty thin relative to my belly. And one guy, a student, said my face looked thinner.

Congrats! I'm still working on losing the final five of my eight winter pounds.  Happens every year.  God should not have made food taste so good. And she shouldn't have invented Doritos.

I've been impressed with how few "cravings" for anything I've even had. Almost none.

I think a big part of it is I'm realizing how empty they all feel. A Snickers doesn't "satisfy," it doesn't fill you up, etc.

Time for me to get back on the Keto train. I am also thinking of trying out one big meal a day to get some fasting in. My uncle has done this and lost a lot of weight. I haven't seen him in like 12 months and I was shocked when I saw him this Easter.

Since I was pretty unhappy about the weather I woke up to this morning. I made myself a bit of a special breakfast. Spicy sausage omelet with spicy quesso, and some salsa on top. Very yummy. It cheered me up a bit. Then I saw more snow started to fall and cried a little.

This! I love my beer. But limit myself to only 1. but when it is a double IPA, I might as well eat a 3 tiered birthday cake!

Today is my day to be in the office, so I dont get to cook my sausage/veggie omelet. Instead I go to Stewarts for a sausage/egg on a hard roll. I know it is not good for me, but those sandwiches are like crack!
