  1. 1. If you tried to set the over-under to draw even money, at what 36-hole score would you set it?

I went with 145.5 because the goal is to set the over under not predict what Tiger will actually shoot.  Given his performances this season I have to think there are a lot of people expecting him to struggle and 142.5 would put too much action on the over imo.

Doubt that he's cured the yips.....they come out with tight lies, pressure, and an audience....The Masters has all three.

He'll W/D to save face.....

He won't be able to hit a yip-wedge over Rae's Creek - maybe he can putt it over the Hogan Bridge on #12 like you would at a putt-putt course......

I went with  under 145.5. I think he will be a round par the first two days.

He's playing... I voted 145.5 whoever said that the cut line will be around 144 (even-par) is out of line, first of all the field is roughly 100, secondly the cut is low 50 and ties AND those within 10 strokes of the leader, what makes anyone think that the leader would be 10 or 11 under after 36 holes AND have the leader board bunched up enough to get an under par cut line, which by the way has NEVER happened in the previous 78 Masters Tournaments, I'll take 136.5 as the 36 hole leader for $200 Alex... Only once has the 36 hole leader been 11 under going into the weekend Ray Floyd in 1976 (he was actually 13 under), him and that 5-wood he made...

The most popular answer is currently 142.5......I would make a big, big bet on the OVER at that number....

My number....and what I think will be posted by the Vegas books.....147.5

143-144 range. Which is roughly what the cut line will be. I think he makes the cut and makes a charge on the weekend.

An even-par cut? What is this a regular tour stop? This isn't the birdie-fests you see at Valhalla or the Disney... Yes there are more birdies made at the Masters (if you adjust it to a field of 156, Erik that's your department, I failed Calculus), than at the other majors... but there are a lot of big numbers out there too... I think if he's at 144, he's probably 6 or 7 shots back with 36 holes to play... which I agree, he could make a charge from there... if he magically finds that magic around the greens he had prior to the swing change... LOOK OUT

145.5

Tiger's short game/putting will be excruciating to watch at Augusta, IMO.

His putting isn't really the issue, apparently anyway

I think he makes the 36-hole cut and flirts with the leader board.

But, this is an unusually emotionally charged tournament for him (year in, year out). Can he play four rounds without pressing too hard and re-injuring himself?

He's teeing it up , he is finishing. There is no way he can WD this tourney. He will suck it up no matter how bad the pain is.

Did anybody think to look up the final over/under line for Tiger?  I don't bet so I don't know about betting websites and I'm getting nothing from Google.

Yeah, but that's not what you were polled for, you were polled as to what Vegas would say he'd shoot. :-P

Yeah, so if he shoots close to the score you pick, that indicates the money would be pretty split. :)

If you set the line at 142.5 and he shoots 137 or 150, the bets probably weren't 50/50. You set a bad over/under number. :D

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
