5 mins full swing practice in the nets before playing 18 holes. Worked on getting the left shoulder down and back during the back swing.

Apparently I forgot to post here yesterday, even though I posted videos of me hitting into my net. Oh well. Didn't have much time to do anything since we went to visit some relatives, so I did some mirror work. Long chipping feel on my downswing.

Hit the range for a small bucket today, trying to do my slow practice swing from several of the past days indoor and hitting an actual ball every 3-4 swings. Hit a few that just flew off the face -- I couldn't believe a slow swing could produce such a nice shot! And I also hit a number of weak slices, even with a 7-iron. Sigh. Well, more time for the range this week before two rounds this weekend.

Putting this afternoon inside... more focused on my setup and having my eyes over the ball.  I have a tendency to let my eyes drift over or past the ball.

Warm-up with Gold Flex swing trainer. Feet together for 5 minutes, then normal driver stance for 5 minutes. Getting more consistent shoulder rotation , much less shoulder slide .

Then, into back yard. Put flagstick into practice green area (mowed at level-3 setting), and practiced quarter and half swing shots with 50º and 58º wedges. Emphasized pitch and lob motions, rotating back and finishing high with left-hand lead through. (If I don't watch it, my close-in shots end up halfway between a chip-and-run and a pitch-lob motion, resulting in shots that are neither.)

Starting to get better distance control with 58*. (Over the winter, I swapped a 56º for the 54 and 58.)

Focus, connect and follow through!

So, after playing 36 holes this weekend, I felt that I had somewhat lost my way as far as how I performed my full swing by the end of yesterday's round so this morning my 5 minutes consisted of some slow, concentrated swings on laying the shaft down and getting myself in the correct positions at A4 and A6.

Similar to @RFKFREAK , I played 36 frustrating holes this weekend and am in need of a reset. I spent 5 minutes this morning on my takeaway in the mirror. Again the focal point was to rotate the hips properly, moving the left knee inward while keeping my head steady and not leaning towards my target.

More mirror work at 5:30am today before playing 18 holes on the longer course and shot pretty decently, but I started falling back on my old ways and could see it in the ball flight. I had to do some of the drills in between holes to kind of get my swing back in gear.

Played an extra 4 practice holes on the shorter course where I did a slow swing drill for about 2 minutes before every single shot. This was a really good, all my shots were straight draws***. I doubt if I can get away with doing a 2 minute pre-shot routine with playing partners around, but it is really great for practice rounds where I am by myself. The only thing missing is a mirror.

***Still working on making them slight push draws.

Used my new IPhone 6 to video my backswing, still working on the same......flatter left wrist at the top and shallower shaft on the way down. The slo mo camera on the phone is awesome!

    • I get it. Believe me, I get it.  The one thing I will say for Bryson is he is one of the very few LIV guys who's still trying to improve his game. A lot of the LIV guys feel like they are just mailing it in. They got the huge payday and now they are just trying to fulfill their obligations to show up.
    • My course Elizabeth Manor hosts the Eastern Amateur every year in July. The best 'kids' shoot like -8 each day from the tips, so I think US Open qualifier would end up a 2-3 shots better. Basically it would be a game of misses - birdie misses.
    • For what it's worth, I never took Bryson as a bad person. Now more so, he seems way more genuine now than he used to be. He just leaning into his personality, and I think that is a good thing because he is a very entertaining golfer. I find his YouTube channel entertaining. He just made a questionable business decision in joining LIV.  I mean, man props to Bryson here. Bryson, during the final round, between the 17th and 18th hole signed the hat of a disabled kid. He didn't have to go out of his way to do this. Same for Rory, Rory stopped on by as well to greet the kid. Mad props to Rory as well.
    • It's funny because the USGA through the FSGA definitely had a formula for what they wanted to see. They were very careful to set up a very fair test. They didn't tip it out, and they actually moved a few holes up from the black tees because they didn't like how a tree was blocking out one side of the fairway or that every par 3 was over 195. There was a mixture of easier and harder pin locations and the greens were cut to their specs.  In the end, I think they accomplished their goal of identifying the best golfers that particular day. Finally, I would highly recommend attendance at one of these events. It was very spectator friendly where you could get really close to some really good guys and see them work their way around the course. There are no ropes, its quiet, and there are no hordes of crowds to navigate. I think Charlie Woods, who had a security detail, had between 15-30 people hanging around but others like Kutchar and LeMieux, really flew under the radar.
    • I mean, everything is so complicated now with the US being in bed with the House of Saud for so long   I did enjoy his unbridled enthusiasm and the fact that he graciously chose not to criticize Rory for dipping out
