I carry a S&W; 38 special, loaded with shell shot, score, snakes 2,wild dogs1, people 0. If you have a dispute with person on etiquette, just walk the other way, it easier to walk away than confront.

Well you do have 7 of the ten most deadliest snakes in the world in OZ!  I can see the need for your weapon there!

A good friend of mine is from Brisbane.  He was playing there many years ago and hit is ball into high grass just off the fairway. He went in looking for his ball.  His playing partner said that someone killed a Taipan in there the day before.  He said that his feet never touched the ground as he flew out of the grass!
I know Florida has gators, but at least you can see them most of the time!

i wonder if we took a poll of random folks here and asked this question:

which country in the world has the highest percentage of gun carrying golfers?

what would the results tell us.

Being paranoid? I suppose exercising your constitutional right of free speech is looked down upon as well. My point is, if you are judging someone for doing something that is totally legal, then you are the one with mental issues. Plain and simple. Please continue this discussion if you want to look more like a nazi. Who has an antiquated system of royalty but also pretentious enough to act morally superior? Which country has the largest number of people without proper dental care? Which country statistically makes the worst running and selling automobiles that are actually imported? Which country also produces the most faulty firearms per year? Which country should be endlessly thankful that they tend to be cast in sophisticated roles because per capita they have more illiterate incestuous idiots than West Virginia? What country and continent was the only one to be successfully controlled by those incestuous idiots indefinitely? I think you all get the point, or maybe skulls are that thick and sense is that thin these days. Seriously, Shorty, I propose a challenge for you. Walk down MLK where I play golf after dark unarmed and with something of value on you. Make my day buster. :) "My neighbors are nice people, so I'm going to claim no one should have a gun and if they do they're paranoid." Right, Shorty, you're not a moron, I prooooooomise.

I apologize for having a spam URL in my signature and will not do it again.

Im glad we have fire arm laws here in the UK. Bad enough letting the country folk have shotguns (thats aimed at my brother.... the comment, not a shotgun ;-) )

"Golfer pulls gun"

Never a good start or ending...

I know guys who carry guns at work, don't know about the course. But if they pull them, they're using them, so they stay put.

Please let's NOT let this thread degrade into yet another gun rights/control flame debate.  They always get out of control and sometimes get people restricted from threads.

Great suggestion. That debate does not end well.

This thread is about a guy bringing a gun and brandishing it in golf course.    A poster commenting that he may be paranoid as a reason should not lead to all that  you wrote above.  That's a legit comment on the issue.  All you needed to respond, as another poster beat you to it, is the State allows it.  It's legal.  The guy was exercising his right.  Etc.    Why extrapolate "paranoid" comment to all the above, eventually, labeling another poster as having mental issue, and the "nazi" comment?   For all I know, Shorty may be a strong proponent of gun rights but think bringing a gun to a  golf course in the first place is "mental."   Then again, he may not be.   But nothing from his post was about gun right or anti gun right.

If a guy has a carry permit he's likely going to carry it into the course rather than risk leaving it in the car to be stolen.  Carrying the gun and threatening people with it over slow play are two different things.  Seems like there are parts missing from the story unless the guy is just a psycho.

You might want to try playing golf in the daytime then.  It's considerably safer AND you will shoot lower scores - I guarantee it.

I thought it the same way as your bold statement above.  Then, he could have left his gun at home - "Honey, I am going to play golf with my buddies.  They are pretty strong & nice bunch and I don't think I will need my gun.  Can you keep an eye on my gun while I am out? :-D "   Instead, he exercised his right to carry it all the way to his golf cart.

The article was a short one without mentioning much detail.  We are left to speculate. :-)

Per Emily Post, nothing settles an "etiquette dispute" faster than a gun. I try to be polite on the course at all times. It's a good idea to treat everybody as if they were carrying a gun. That is, with respect and politeness.

I usually just bring a bazooka to launch rockets at the slow group ahead. That way the contact is somewhat indirect and they won't be able to shoot me from 300 hundred yards away unless they are carrying a rifle with a scope.

Guns on the golf course so silly. May even be considered a restricted area if the state disallows carrying to places that sell alcohol.

I carry a S&W; 40 when I am in a potentially hazardous situation, but have not considered a round of golf to be of that sort.

Maybe I have too much faith in my fellow man?

I do not own a gun so obviously I do not carry one  But if I did own a gun and had a carry permit I would carry it everywhere.  Until someone invents an app which can accurately predict which situations will end up hazardous and which will not I would just carry 100% of the time.

Strandly, I thought, was referring to Hernandez case.  There have been other cases where the players were known to carry guns.   Try googling "NBA players guns."

Plaxico Burress.  Ruined the 2008 season for my Giants.  At least the idiot shot himself, not someone else.

Being paranoid? I suppose exercising your constitutional right of free speech is looked down upon as well.

Shorty is Australian.  They do not have our Bill of Rights and so his constitutional rights are different than ours.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Most states have restricted premises so everywhere isn't possible. Many are places where you would expect BS to happen, schools, sporting events, places that sell alcohol, amusement parks etc. In CO if you partake in legal weed you aren't permitted to carry while under the influence.
